I agree that they are great subs. But I also agree that they are over priced. There are a couple other subs I would buy before I W6.

2003 is the last year for the W6. The W6V2 is taking over, and at a higher price. I've had my 10W6s since 1996. Great subs.

I don't think the W6 nor the W6v2 are overpriced at all. They are well worth the money to those those that demand good sound out of a rugged speaker.
Granted there are companies like RE, Adire, ED that are making great sounding speakers at very low cost, but those are the exception, not the norm. In terms of mainstream speakers, JL along with Image Dynamics are providing some of the best sounding reasonably priced subs you can get. Just because some are unable or unwilling to spend that kind of money on a sub (and I don't blame you), doesn't mean they aren't worth the money.

What is the Suggested Retail For these Subs0 I've always wanted a set of W6's. I have JL 10's right now but don't know what model they are because they came with the car.
i was referring to the w6v2, the "classic series" arent all that impressive to me, they dont sound all that good in any car ive heard. but they are pretty loud, but i dont think "loud" when i think jl, so the speakers really dont work for me.
the v2 are nice though.

I was running one JL 12W6 and it was pretty decent. Ran it with a Fosgate 225.2 and then a 500a2 (Same amp I beleive, just one was a newer model)
I will be running 2 JL 8W6's as soon as I build a small box for them. I don't want all that boom, just enough to fill in the low end.

A m8 in our local car club is running three 10"W6's in his 89 Iroc and it sounds sweet. Very loud but still quality sounding.
