Components in place of rear 6X9's
Components in place of rear 6X9's
Been reading some threads in the last few months about this idea. For example:-
Component system in place of 6x9s
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ight=component
6 1/2" (or 6 3/4") over 6x9's?
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ear+components
6x9 versus components in the rear
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ear+components
A few questions:-
Is it a worthwhile swap to make? Will the rear passengers tell the difference between good quality 6X9's and good quality components in the rear? Is it true that you can't really tell a difference in SQ from the front seat because of the angles of the rear speakers?
When you are using the metal piece that that the 6x9 screws into to make a stencil for the new plate... Do you have to use metal or do you use MDF?
FiReBReTHa - Is that 6 inch components you have?
Thanks!

it does make a tremendous difference as long as it's done right.
I used MDF for mine about 1/2 inch. Be careful where you cut the holes for the driver so they don't hit the rear baffle. When you mount the tweeters angle them toward the front. Any good component set will come with an angle mount. If you have any questions about audio let me know. It's what I've been doing for the past 10 years.

MDF plate will work perfectly.
In my opinion you should go with the components.
Just make sure you spend the $ to get a decent set. I would suggest Focal 6 inch component/tweeter set. I think they're $200 a set.
Then put in doorbuilds / kickpanels with another set, run the whole lot from a good amp and you're sorted. Oh, until the two JL Audio 10 or 12 inch sub's get put in the rear!!!!!! LOL.
Chrissy.
