Well, look under the dash on the firewall where the steering column goes through, there should be sound deadening around it. That's where I routed my 0/1...

I (carefully) drilled a hole behind the passenger kick panel and put in a rubber gromit (so that the metal wouldn't rub). Then routed the cable thru the passenger fender. It was the shortest past to the amps in the rear trunk.

On my 87 there was a hole about the size of a 50 cent piece above and to the right of the steering column where it passes through the firewall. It is about 2 inches above and right of the steering column. It has a large rubber plug in it already, so I made a hole in it and used the same plug for the wire grommet. I just pushed the power wire through until I saw it pop out from behind the padding that is under the dash. A great and easy place to run the wire.

That's what I thought, too. The firebird gods put that hole there for us. It wouldn't really work for Camaros, though, you know, the battery on the opposite side.

If you don't have power equipment (like locks and windows) then there will just be a plastic filler where the hole is. I took that out, cut a hole in it, and ran the wire through there. That way you have the convience of going through the kick panel without the drilling.
