My first Sub set up... What do you think

Yep this is my first attempt at installing and running subs in any car. The box was made by me, and the subs are 1000watt peak 325watt RMS JBL's that can be gotten from crutchfield for like
$150 for both. The Jensen although a good amp is hardly enough for them. Still raddles my headlights in the front so im happy.

here is a drawing of the box, i know horrible work but gets the idea across

Here is my current set up with the JBL's

Thats a good looking setup and box...lol, and I'm assuming it cost you alot less to build than the avg. $250 to buy one from an audio shop.

A standard wedge-shaped box like that should cost a lot less than $250 for a shop to build. Generally $250 will get you a much more complex box that fits the contours of the floor.

But anyway... nice looking box. If I were you I'd make sure it's anchored down properly though, because due to the shape of the box, that thing is going to shoot forward like a missile if you get into an accident.

True, thats what I was refering too. I have a basic wedge type box with 2 12" MTX subs sitting on my backseat. I'm not really worried about any one stealing it..I had to take a T-top out and practically rub butter all over the box to get it in. I don;t mind it taking up the backseat cause I'm convinced the rear seat was specifically desiged for midgets and since I don;t know any midgets, I'm good to go.

You'd be surprised how much room there is to remove boxes after a brick goes through the rear hatch. Even if they don't manage to get it out, you're in for a serious inconvenience.

Nice box, I just saw a convertable instal today of 2 audiobahn 12's and boy did it rattle that 2000 camaro. I paid 85 bucks for my box at an audio shop but i do know the guy so that might have influenced it a bit.

Nice...I like how it sits up high in the back, but if it was in my car, i'd prefer the front to sit flush. Either way, it looks pretty good. I'll bet it sounds good too, I love JBL subs.

Yea i dont have it anchered but it gets wedged in place when the hatch comes down so im not too concered about it flying in a wreck.

When i was making it i forgot the board was 3/4" thick and did not make the front shorter . The next one i make it will be flush in the front and should be much better.

:hail: JBL:hail:

I rewired it earler so taht both were getting the bridged effect and man do they move ALOT. Sounded bad with amp maxing out but oh well nice to see them make the JBL letters look 2" Tall
