Car Alarm Dilemma
After having my car burglarized while standing less than thirty(yes 30) feet away while working at the local pizza joint, I have decided to get an alarm installed. (They actually waited until the other driver left, then barred the door shut from the outside, then proceeded to steal deck and radar detector). If I had a 2-way pager system, I could have run out the other door and beat them to death, (or as much as the laws in Texas allow
.)
In any event, I'm sure many of you have come across this same situation. You have been to the local car stereo shop, only to find a great car alarm installed can run anywhere from $700 to $1,000. But if you search on the net you can find an alarm with:
- standard alarm features
- power windows up/down
- power locks
- remote start
- 2-way pager system
for several hundred dollars less. Here's one that I was looking at purchasing.
http://www.igadget.com/to308.html - obviously cheap, but if it works, it works. My heart is not set on this model in particular, so I would greatly appreciate any recommendations
My question is: How do you get around the necessity for the resistance in the dealer-supplied key? All of the other connections seem possible for the average person, however this aspect is one I never thought of until now.
Info: 1990/3.1/Firebird/Automatic/Power Everything
Thanks in advance.
