Help me build a system!

Alright, ive decided that i need to improve my sound system. Ive already got a Pioneer DEH-6400, so that should be good to support a system? Im set on getting 2 12" Alpine Type-R's after hearing many positive things about them. Do I want to get 2 or 4 ohm? one of my friends told me that i dont need dual voice coils, i dont even know what these are What would the best amp be for these? I would like to stick with alpine for the amp also. How about the 4x6s and 6x9s? Who has the best speakers for the most reasonable price? Will I need a capaciter? Will there be any strain on my battery or alternator? I really know nothing as far as car audio so any help is greatly appreciated.

i have two of those subs and they pound. i recomend them highly. for amps i have no experience at all with amps except crappy sony that does the job.

Just an FYI on that DEH-P6400. Make shore that the amp is grounded and GOOD BEFORE you plug in the RCAs.

that is a really good deal. 66 + 18 for shipping when the sub alone costs 120 or so. awesome deal.

Yup. I dont need two 12s right now, But I might buy two just cause they are so cheap.

whats the difference between 2 and 4 ohm subs? its selectable on the amp how many ohms right?

Check this out. It might give you some info. Here
With two 4ohm DVC subs you can run them at either 1ohm or 4ohm. With 2ohm DVC subs you can run them at either .5ohm or 2ohm. Some amps can run at 1ohm(or lower) and some can not. I am pretty sure the alpine amps only run down to 2ohms. So you would have to get two 2ohm subs in order to get the max power out of the amp. If you had two 4ohm subs and ran the amp at 4ohm it would only be pushing half as much power as at 2ohm.

Does this make sense?

Your right. I cant believe I missed that. I even noticed that the RMS were lower than type r's but I thought it was a typo.

Those wont put too much of a strain on the batt or alt. Type R 12s only handle like 400rms. So even if you were running a 800rms amp you should be fine. You should check out this

That RF amp would push those subs very nicely. My buddy has two type r 10s being pushed by 250rms of alpine power(which has broke twice ) and they pound, and are VERY clean.

Depending on how much money you have.... I would go with components up front in some of these kickpanels and then either 6X9s in the back or some more components back there powered by a 4ch amp.

2 4 ohm subs run in pararlel with single vc will present a 2 ohm load. For amps, don't try to go cheap. Find a good amp for around $400 to $500 (here.... http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/carau....asp?sku=12089) if you want to stay with alpine. I would recomend one of these... http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/carau...asp?sku=12257, or if you want to spend the extra $ on a quality amp that you will surely be happy with.... http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/carau....asp?sku=11950 I've seen a lot of people go cheap on their amps and not get the sound they were looking for. If you have a good amp, your subs can be less than the best and I guarentee that you will out pound the people with the better subs and crappy amps. Just my 2 cents.
