I'm sure this question has been ask before but I couldn't find a thread. I have a stock '83 stereo. What would be good efficient speakers to get for front and back? I don't figure I need high end given that it is the stock stereo.

Just keep the stock ones. You're not going to find better sound by replacing just the speakers. The stock deck sounds so terrible that there's no point. Plus, the stock speakers have a very high sensitivity to help offset the fact that the factory radio puts out a whopping 3 watts.

 

I understand completely. The problem is that the original speakers have deteriorated and are not working. So just go buy some cheapes?

 

If you are going to upgrade the HU go ahead and get what you like. Listen to some and look at the prices. There is no magic bullet when it comes to speakers. But as a rule of thumb, stay away from Sony.

 

i had to to a aduio over haual on my mid range becuase of those crapy cones gm put in ther are fallin apart. i have pionners all the way around sonds real nice but it is a new deck. Yet they fit which is important
