Old school Rockford amp
I have an old rockford amp. It's red and silver. I've never seen another one like it before, but I've had it for over 2 years now and it still pounds hard. The side says 275 watts. No clue if that's RMS, max power, what ohms, etc.
Well whatever it is, it outpowers my roommates 2 year old Punch 500.
I've tried searching for this elsewhere on the net, but the only results I get is for recently made amps. Anybody help me out here? I'll try to post a picture of it later.

Well,
The only ones I ever remember being silver with red trim were called 'Series 1' amps. If the heat sink fins are red and the rest of the amp is silver with a strange texture on the top and the Rockford emblem, that's what it is. Otherwise I have no clue.

not totally sure.....
The first I saw of them was about 7-8 years ago and I think they made them for 2-3 years.
I am surprised to hear you say that it puts out so much power because those were Rockfords introductory or "cheapie" amps. They were still good, don't get me wrong......you know what I mean.

The amps that you buy today are junk and nothing but junk. I got a twenty year old Sanyo amp that rated at 50 watts RMS per side at 0.05% distortoin. A lot of these amps today are rated at 1000 watts at 20% distortion. I have a subwoofer box that contains four 8-inch woofers. the combination of this amp and those woofers blew away a box that had two 12 inch woofers and a so call 500 watt amp. So watts are not watts.
