Single 12 system(Brahma)

Here's what I intend to purchase within the next few days:

One Adire Audio Brahma 12"
One Hifonics Brutus 1500D

Now, my question is do you think I can get away with 4 gauge wiring to the amp, or will I need to go bigger? Also, I am curious if you think that I will need a capacitor. Right now I have my car wired with 8 gauge, but I'm not sure if anything larger than 4 gauge will fit thru the hole in my firewall. Please help, thanks.

What is the maximum current consumption (i.e. fuse size) of that amp? That's what determines wire size.

4 AWG should work with minimal problems, but if you are interrested in getting the most out of that amp, or if you ever plan to compete, you're going to need 2 AWG.

That's a pretty handy table right there, Jim. So the numbers across the top refer to the length of the wire?

Box

Alright, just one last question. I'm not too confident in my box building ability, I'm sure I could do it, just not too well. Anyways, a local shop sells Dual 12 boxes to fit in the well, and I was curious if you think that would be a bad way to go. I'll only have one Brahma for now, but I will want to upgrade to a second one sometime in the future. The box is split in two sections, so that shouldnt be a problem. The only thing wrong with it that I see is that it is made out of High Density Pressed Board, and I dont know how that would stand up against MDF. But, they are only 70 bucks, so I thought I might give them a try. What do you think?

garbage. Even an MDF box should be braced if you're going to run a Brahma in it. That pressed crap is junk. Even if you somehow manage not to blow the box apart, it's going to resonate enough to effect the sound quality.

You're buying one of the finest subwoofers in existance. For ***'s sake, don't half *** your box. Nobody builds a 500 horsepower small block and keeps the T5. There are certain things you just don't do.
