Ideas for sub box and amp rack (photos)

This is what I did. See what you think. The amps are mounted to a carpeted board that is the same size as the well. And there are two of them stacked with 2" of space between them. See the next post for sub box.

I was afraid of that. You see that squirrel cage fan on the top of the "box"? it points right at the sub amp (which is on top), but even before I installed the fan, the amps never shut off because of heat. And I thump it!

You should be able to make one with no problem. All you would have to do is change the dimensions of the box a bit (to make sure its got the right amount of air space for the sub) . Get a hinged cover, cut the right sized holes in it, and make your box. I attached it to the top w/ scres and used silicone to seal it up. It's pretty coll, but it's HEAVY! Audiobahns with HUGE magnets.

alright cool, thanks. What size are your subs and how much RMS are you running. Oh and is that a ported or sealed box cause I looked at audiobahns site and they don't suggest a sealed box for my time of subs.

They did for mine. I 'm replacing them cause I blew the left one because originally I had it in a box that was WAY TOO BIG. (idiot)And I couldn't find a replacement, but I found 2 10" newer model for $149.00, so ... They're 10's w/ DVC and I'm running them w/ a Hifonics Zeus 600(@4ohms). Since they're DVC, I'm pushing 600 watts to each one. (DVC= 2 ohm load) The new ones are the same, just this or last years model. I would look at different models of Audiobahn 12", and make a box that comes close to what they recommend for their other drivers. That should work, cause the subs are going to be pretty close spec-wise. Or call audiobahn and ask a tech person.
I'm not going to win any SPL contests, or break out my back window, but I can hear it blowing down the road @ 90 MPH with the windows down. The bass is accurate, clean, and sufficient. It's a sealed box. Audiobahn recommended .67 to 1.1 cubit feet of air spce for a sealed box. Will be different for yours. See pic of new sub.

If it was me, I would sell the speakers that you have, and get a model that supports a sealed box. I've always thought that sealed boxes had better bass( tighter, etc.) than a ported enclosure. I don't see how you can port this box, especially by putting a 12 in it. The port should face the same direction as the driver, and you'll be lucky if you can even put a 12 in this thing. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I really have no experience w/ported enclosures, and with this setup, 2 12" subs is probably pushing the limits of space, because i think this thing only measured 14" or so top to bottom. Maybe sell those 12's and get some 10's that will support a sealed enclosure. I think you'd be better off. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I just bought those subs and haven't even installed them yet.. I have some subs in there now that are in a box that is sitting up on the flat spot inside the hatch which they sound good or i can set them up where the back seat is cause i never have more than one person riding with me anyways. you have been alot of help on this subject but i really don't want to get rid of these subs. But hey thanks for all you help on this. Atleast someone will help me out here.

Maybe you could make the box not as deep, and wider, and put the port next to the speaker facing out. That may work...........just an idea.
