Q-Logic Enclosure Opinions & a question
I'm pretty interested in a Q-Logic two 12" sub enclosure but was wondering if it is over-rated. My amp is mounted at the bottom of the "trunk" area, and want to ensure it doesn't dip down all the way. Anyway, those who have it, was it worth it? How does it perform? ANY feedback would be helpful.

I have the enclosure you're talking about, and I love it. You'll have room for your amp under the box. Make sure you get subs for a sealed enclosure with the right amount of area. I believe it's .85 cu. ft. I have two Audiobahn high excursion subs powered by a 300X2 Audiobahn amp and it really sounds good. It hits real hard, feels like your being hit in the gut. Another plus is that it blends real well with whole hatch area, almost like a factory option. The lowest price I found was from Main Street Audio, but that was over a year ago. I don't know the prices now.

That's funny, Main Street still appears to have the lowest price. I'm curious if it outperforms a wood enclosure. Hopefully someone that's used both will be able to give an opinion!

It is a wooden enclosure. The ABS plastic you see mounts onto the enclosure and helps secure it into the compartment. It also blends well with the hatch area plastic.

Oh really? That's interesting! I found one @ SoundDomain.com for $219.95 - I'd wouldn't mind finding a used one though :/

So they take regular subs, not the "free-air" type? So it is like a true "box"? Question, if this is the case, could i go with different subs than my free air ones? Does it make that much difference in sound? Thanks

It is a legit sealed box with 0.85 cu/ft of air space per sub. I've found one for $209 SHIPPED FREE @ www.thezeb.com!

What do you mean you needs subs for a sealed enclosure? I think i understand that, but can i use my subs with it? There are two types of subs, yes or no? I currently have the free-air pioneers from like 4 yrs ago, that do not require an enclosure, right? That is what i was told. Is there a big difference between the two? As you can tell i know close to nothing about speakers. thanks

If you want truly deep, hard, in your gut bass, you have to match the subs to the enclosure. Free air subs perform best just how they say, with no enclosure. A subs specs tell you what size and kind of enclosure they will work best in. You could put the free air subs in a sealed enclosure, but you won't get the best performance.

I could build a box from wood at work for free and cover it with some cheesy Wal-Mart automotive carpeting for $10. After saving all that money, I'd still have a box sitting in my trunk. I didn't mind spending some dough to get it to match the interiors lines and colors perfectly. The other alternative for me would have been a custom fiberglass enclosure which I'm sure would have gone for well over $300.

Runner, I've got a couple questions:
How long have you had yours?
Has it developed any air leaks?
Does it replace the rear panel around the latch or just mold to it?
Any info would be helpful, I appreciate your help already!

I've had it in about 6 months and no leaks. Although the screws they supply for mounting the subs are a little short to get a good grip. I just replaced them with longer screws and have had no troubles at all. It molds around the rear plastic you're talking about. The only thing you'll have to do is remove the hatch area light if you have one. It doesn't matter because it would be covered up anyway. They supply you with some hollo-fil to use, make sure you use it to get a little better bass. Even if you have some lying around, you can throw a little extra in. Depending on the speakers you get, it is going to add some weight back there, but don't all sub boxes? They also give you some gasket material to seal the speakers, make sure it seals all the way around. They also supply good quality speaker wire if you choose to use it. It was a little small for my application, but would be fine for a slightly smaller amp than I was using. Any more questions, just ask.
