I have also read hat the infinity refrence series crack under prolonged exposure to sunlight.. if you are going to go with them you might want to put the plates out of direct sunlight..if you have a coice.. if not find some UV resistant tint to protect them. You dont have to cover the glass, you can put a thin layer inbetween the grille and the speaker, or stick it to the back of the grille.
One small peice of advice.. crutchfield is a good place to look at features etc.. but when it comes time to buy check out Ebay for your best prices.

I agree with the above posts, crutchfield can be a little overpriced on most of thier products.......great catalogues though!
I have found some decent deals at local stereo shops with thier open box/refurbished stuff, most places don't have more than a couple of head units at a time, but they want to get rid of the stuff after awhile especially if it is a year or two out of date.
I've seen a 900 watt rms rockford punch amp going for $300 before, that's a decent buy.
The new stuff is cool too, but costs more than twice as much sometimes. I don't mind old stereo equipment as long as it is quality stuff to begin with.
make sure you have a decent warranty and buy an extended warranty if it's cost is reasonable.

i have the pioneer 7400 mp3 player and it is awesome. that is my favorite deck that i have ever seen or had access to. i was very happy with it. then again all my friends had xplodes and el kamelions so mine was way above theirs but i like it more than some of the alpines.

yep
lykan, junkyarddog i do agree big time on the prices of crutchfeild, im useng the site for show all purposes, like you said to check features, it helps out alot, ebay rules and some sites do too, i like circiut city when the price is right, cause of the warrenty...need i say more, break it and get a new one free
i loved the features on this deck and i tryed them out over at best buy with an actual knowledgeable emloyee, he knew more than me! i was blown away with his customer help to me, but any way, i dont think i could need other features, and the price is in my range kinda, anything more than 0$ is too much but as far as cd players go its good
lykan, im leaning toward the polks i heard at cicuit city, they sound identical to the infinitys, and they are cheaper, i regaud polk as a good speaker so im cool with them, i just wish i had the polk 6x9, they sound a heck of a lot better than mine, way more bass, its nuts, but oh well, wouldnt the layer of tint block sound alot if it were in the grill, i was thinking maybe some kinda of thin cloth and fasten it over the speaker on the dash
i have decided i dont need mp3 so i stoped looking for them, although it would be nice i can get a great deck with loads of features for less that a mp3 deck with none of those features, i like adjusting stuff
i found a different amp and price and plce to buy, look and see some prices on this site made me drop jaw
amp id like to get

Sounds like you know what your aafter.. if that model of pioneer does it for you.. by all means go for it! This years pioneers sound great and that's for sure
.
As for that fosgate amp, it's going to do everything you want, and possibly more. That ones rated a 300 I ran a 120a2 and I belive you're looking at the step up.
The 120a2 I bought ran my fronts, it also ran some mid bass in one of my trucks, and now it is bridged and running 1-12 incher all by itself. It pounds it. The sound for the mids and high was accurately reproduced, no distortion. The cool thing was that with the 120's built in crossover I could really put the power to it, without the risk of blowin them. I know I was putting more wattage to those cerwin's then I was supposed to, but it was all in the right range wihth the HPF so it didn't hurt em. I think the fosgate is a great choice.
The reason I am so sprung on the MP3 deck.. is just well. I was almost considering putting in a computer for my mp3's and dvd... now with this deck I am more than satisifed.. 1 burnt cd with 200+songs.. I've only burnt one cd so far, and I havent pulled it out yet.. no need. It beat the heck out of 20 cd's floating around my ride..
I didn't mean to be pushy about the pioneer mp3.. as I said Im sure the deck you have picked out will suit you just fine... the sound quality is amazing

I l;istened to the Infinity Reference Plates, and was surprised as to how BAD they sounded. I opted for the Polk 4x6's which I thought sounded much better.

heh
thank you, i was kinda wondering
i compared the two at cc and heard no diff
i mean i went back and forth for like 10 minutes and couldnt tell anything, they both sound good to me, better thn like panasonic and pioneer and kenwood, i love the polk db series to death they sound great, i want the 6x9 db's now, but alas i have some. ooh well, the bad ones i mentions sound so harsh it sad they spilt me in two with bad high end and poor low end, my infinitys have a loud as heck high end and its set at mid way while the bass is on full, but this is the stock deck, psh! but i have decided on the polk 4x6's and that 300 watt rf amp.
i also love that deck, i played with it again for like an hour one night, it took a while to figure out but after that it was so easy.
what do you guys think about mounting the cd player on a metal plate of aluminum, could i do this easy enough?
