Pics of 4th gen CD player in the Iroc

I know it's no huge feat of engineering, but when I wanted to find pics a while back, I couldn't. I snapped a bunch of pics today...including this one:

Looks good! I plan on getting a 4th gen cd player too until I get a pioneer deck. How hard was the install and everything?

Install on these is a peice of cake. You can do it a couple ways. The wiring can be done buy choping the wires and hard wiring them into a 4thgen or caprice radio pigtail or buy an adapter at autozone for an aftermarket radio. Then you plug the adaptor into the radio harness on the car and wire it into the pigtail. Now as far as mounting if you get the right one it is no trouble at all just push in and bolt. Get one actually out of a camaro and it is no prob. It will have the silver tabs on the side.

I know it's not a 93...they were a little different. ...I think they didn't go to "my" style till the body change in 98. I'm not sure though.

Actually, ya know... I don't really even know if it's from a Camaro. I bought it off Ebay from one of the businesses that sells 'em, not a personal auction. It did have the right brackets though. The radio is the same, but the brackets are different for some cars. Not sure if any other cars used the "Camaro" brackets.

...and yes, the brackets are interchangeable, in case you get a good deal on a radio with the "wrong" brackets.

Also, don't get the Bose or Monsoon. I"m still not positive, but my understanding is that they will only work with the correct amplifier.

Also, try to get a radio with the "delco-lok" removed. It's a hassle if you don't.

Hmm... Anyone else think that would be really cool to add to a 4th gen dash swap? :P

There is a cable adaptor that plugs into the factory harness and then directly into the new stereo. I've posted pics and part numbers before. This way, the original wiring harness is not affected and the stereo can be removed easily again.

Here's a little more help on the swap, look under "Projects" and
"Electrical/Audio".

http://iroczone.com/newindex.htm

Also, the Monsoon HU's will work without the factory amp. If you
want the amp you can find them for ~$50 w/pigtail. You can also
use the factory CD changers on the newer ones if they have the
plug on the HU. By the way, the power output on the Monsoon's is 54 watts/channel. If you need any other help such as Theftlok
and error(ERR) codes go to the FAQ on the Electronics, Radio...
forum section at http://ls1.com/ there are a lot of answers for
what you can/cannot do with these.
Larry.
