Adding Speakers....please help

Hey Guy, I'm new to the site and have a question. If our cars only had 4 speakers stock, how would you add two more? I have a set of 6x9's that I would like to add in the back around the hatch area similar to the 4th gen Monsoon systems. Do I have to splice wires?? Buy something extra?? Thanks for any help, it's appreciated.

You can always get kick panels too. They have openings for 1 6 or 6.5 then a tweeter, thats 4 speakers though.

You could always construct a box that goes completly across the back of the rear seats sitting in the hatch facing up. That would look pretty cool. I recomend making the box out of fiberglass. Do some searches here at the bottom for "Fiberglass box" and you will find alot of instructions in there. lol I wanna see if mine is still in there.

6x9's do not sound THAT good...

that sounds like a pain in the *** to me, if you are running off of a head unit, then if you run them parrallel, and they are 4 ohm speakers, you will fry the radio, if you run them series, then you wont get any power to them.

if you are running them off of an amp, then you it's a whole different story.

well 1st tell us what you have for a system now....and i think ill agree that 6x9s back there wouldnt be worth it.
But if you give us more info we can help you if you still want to do it......are you on a budget or already have the 6x9s or something??

I have a 4th gen cd player out of a 2000 camaro, it was in the car when I purchased it. I installed 4, 6.5 inch speakers in the car (which was all it came with stock) which were from wal-mart, some off brand a friend recommended that actually sound pretty good, 200 watts per speaker. I bought the 6x9's as well b/c I was so thrilled with the performance of the 6.5's As for my budget, I would have to say around $500 to $600 for two 10 or 12 inch subs, box, and an amp. I just assumed the 6x9's would give me a fuller sound?? what do you guys think? I would like to install them since I already have them. thanks....

do you have a convertable or something??

it not you should have 4x6s in the front and 6x9s in the sail panels...unless you have a Bose system??? i have no clue what sizes they are?

You should but your 6x9s in the sails. Run your subs. Then take your extra 6.5s and put them in the doors. Youll need to get line level converters to hook them into your rear speakers so you can run rcas to your amp for the subs. That would sound the best for only buying two line level converters and 1or2 subs w/ box and an amp.
But too hook up your 6 speakers to the one deck you have to cross refferance the wire diagram for your car and especially the one for your deck,,you may beable to run 6 speackers off it im not sure....go to a 4th gen site and get the wire diagram. If you can only run 4 off your deck then leave one set of 6.5 out.
