Stock Stereo Power Output?
I know this is sort of a lame questions/topic, but what is the power output of a stock AM/FM Cassette w/Eq Stereo (it would have come from and 85/86 Camaro).
I know it's not much, but I'm trying to stick with the the stock idea but need to get new speakers. Just want to make sure it will have enough power to drive them.
Thanks!

What part of philly are you from? Im in Philly too. I dont know for sure but id imagine stock head units are very low powered, like maybe 10 watts? Anyone else have any info on them? You'd be better off getting an amp also with speaker level inputs or if you got an amp without speaker level inputs you could always get a line output converter. Then hide the amp in the rear wall, (up past the spare tire) and its totally stock looking.I had mine like that for a short time.

the main advantage of an amplified speakers system over one that is running off of the head unit isnt the power. Its how clean the signal is.
my head unit puts out 60X4 which in reality is about 23X4, yet when i run a POS 25X4 kenwood amp to my speakers it sounds 10x better.
you could always keep the stock head unit in its location and hide a seperate one...its not as much work as you would think
