Frequency Range???

Does a lower frequency range of a 6x9 speaker enable it to produce louder or more bass?? How big of a difference?

How about I make a comparison to be more specific.

Infinity Reference 9602i

Sensitivity - 92 dB
Frequency Response - 46 - 21k Hz
RMS Power Range - 100w
Peak Power Handling - 300w

-----and-----

Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X698

Sensitivity - 93 dB
Frequency Response - 25 - 33k Hz
RMS Power Range - 75w
Peak Power Handling - 300w

The frequency range of the Kenwood goes a lot lower than the Infinity speaker. Will the Kenwood produce a lot more bass??

What if both sets of speakers were powered by an amp thats giving them 75w RMS per channel? The Infinity has a higher RMS rating, but will the Kenwood still be able to produce louder bass because of its low frequency range?

Realize that i'm a punk and that more bass is more appealing to me

a lower frequency response just means that the speaker will be able to play that frequency audibly. No 6X9 speaker will produce good bass in the 25hz range its just too low. Infact there are many subs out there who wont hit good at 25hz. Most bass in music is around the 35-60hz range where most speakers will have no problem.

personally i would choose the infinitys...if bass is what you're after they will do their best to produce it. Keep in mind it is a oval shaped 6X9 so it wont produce nearly the bass that a round or square sub will produce no matter how much power you throw at it.

Forget about specs when it comes to speakers. The only way to make a smart buying decision is to listen to them and choose what sounds best to you.

Thanks guys. I did listen to a bunch of 6x9's and I was very impressed by the Infinity's. They're only going in my winter car which will be sold in the spring, so I only got the reference series 6x9. I guess I was expecting a little more thump out of them, but then again they're only being run off the deck. I've heard that if I amplify them it will make a world of difference.
