Decent pair of 12's and sub setup?

I've got a box for 2 12's that came with my '85 T/A. I've since sold that car, but I kept the box. I'm not much for bassin', but I need some more oomph now. I don't really care for it to be THE BEST, but I'd like to know your opinnions on a decent pair of 12's and a nice/cheap amp?

go to sounddomain and do the pricematch for ikesound with 2 Kicker CVR12-4s and a Rockford Fosgate Punch 501S

CVR12s $150
Punch 501s $169

so $319 instead of $530 and they have free shipping. Those subs and that amp should pound real nice for just over 300 bones...

price matching at sounddomain with ikesound is a very good idea

i would go with:

JBL 1200.1 $230ish from ebay
power acoustik **** 10 $170 from
http://www.thezeb.com

here are the specs onthe sub.

very impressive subs from what ive heardhttp://www.poweracoustik.com/****.htm

I heard almost that exact setup at a runner for a radio station around here. It was pretty decent. Think they got better stuff a few weeks later tho...

You never said what size the box was, and whether it was sealed or ported. THis makes a big difference if you plan to get good sound quality. Just buying subs and tossing them into a pre-made box is sort of like a crap shoot. If you get lucky enough to buy a sub that's ideal for the box you have, then great. If not, it won't sound as good as it should.

Anyway, let's assume the box is a 1.5 cubic foot sealed box, which isn't terribly uncommon for thirdgen boxes. If so, a sub like the Adire Shiva would be a great match, and will provide fantastic sound quality.

I put a pic of the box in my page.

From what I can tell it's most likely made out of wood (it's damned heavy) and it's enclosed.

A picture of a box doesn't tell me what size it is, plus I'm not fishing through a half dozen pages of pics to find it.

You need to measure it and figure out what internal volume it has so that you know what you're dealing with.
