amps mounted inside the rear cargo area plastic trim.

hi again,

my ? for all of you w/ systems in yur 3rd gens this time is...

can or do you have yur amps mounted behind the plastic trim/molding in yur car?

i know amps need some air and stuff to breath but i figure u got plenty of room behind there and ppl hs mounted subs in there that i seen in another post but would amps be ok in there?
i mean like being able to breath and stuff?
ive never had any probs w/ the amp under the seat of the s10 of behind the seat mounted on the back of the cab so im thinkin it wouldnt hurt to mount an amp or 2 inside the plstic trim.
not mounted to the trim but remove it like were the spare tire used to be and make an amp rack fomr plywood or something so u could mount the plywood or rack solid and then attach the amp to it.
but would it have trouble breathing?
as of now my 6x9s push alot of air around in there so im thinkin that may be even better since they are moving air around and its not just settin there.

if anyone has any suggestions or pics or opinions all are welcome thanks guys and girls.

they work under yur box as well?

that was my original plan to make a box just for the well in back of hatch the lowest spot and mount my amps to the bottom of the box but tuning them yud have remove whole box and my dads like no u cant do that they gotta breath.
which made sense so i thought about inside the plastic.

thanks for the help any others got em mounted inside or think theyd be ok in there?

i think they would.

People have mounted amps in the spare tire compartment many times without issue. There is alot of air space in that place.

Regarding under a sub box in the "cubby hole" in the back. A friend of mine has a sony xplode amp there with a sub box similar to mine. It works fine, but it heats up like mad.

Keep in mind the reputation Sony has. Other amps might run cooler.

My only concern was in the cooler outside temps condensation can form on the inside of that rearquarter.. Has anyone noticed any corrosion in or around their amp as a result of it?

I have two amps mounted under my box..... No problems at all.... I also don't ride around with it wide open all the time either... Only when a good song comes on....
I say as long as your not pumping some serious watts and don't have it wide open for lond periods you should have no problem mounting under you box in the "cubbie hole"......

KJ Rockz does your amp box block any of your sound? It seems like it would have to. Certain frequencies of bass are very dependent on reflecting off the hatch and into your ears... in my car I can tell a big difference when I put anything back there. I guess it also matter what you set your crossovers at and such... dunno just wondering.
