What kind of SPL would a single 10 inch L7 Solo hit???

Just wondering what a L7 would hit in the largest ported box they say to build, that has the deepest bass and most efficiency.

Lets say it'll be firing straight up, with about 600-800 watss of clean power going to it.

I am either thinking of getting one 10 or one 12, but the 12 inches only has 1 db of efficiency than the 10, for what kind of cubic footage I am planning to use.

In other words, there are three different size boxes you can build for each speaker. The biggest id the best in terms of SPL. I can either build the optimal enclosure for the 10 inch one, or the medium enclosure for the 12 inch one.

Here is the link to the owners manual for the speakers:
http://kicker.com/images/manuals/04S...ch%20Brief.pdf

GO TO , VENTED RESPONSE CURVES FOR 12 AND 10 INCH L7. it is the 12th page.

I think the 10 inches would give me the best results, I have a single Premier 10 inch SPL sub in my fourth-gen in a ported box, and it is the loudest single 10 I have yet to hear on the street.

But Maybe the extra db is worth a decrease in sound quality??? Let me know your thoughts.

i think you should be able to get a solid 145 legal with a ported 10L7 with that much power.

WOW.

Are you serious?

That would be insane. Have you heard these subs in ported boxes? Do they really rock that hard???

I guess that will be the route I go then, I mean really, who needs more than 145db in a street cruiser?

ya ive played around with some L7s before...never the 10s though. They're decent SPL subs for the money and work surprisingly well in sealed enclosures but they seemed to really shine in a bigger ported box. When i say its capable of 145 that means in a good install in an SPL box with limited voltage drop and some good power going to it.

For streat beating you might want to drop the tuning in your box down a bit as it will give you better SQ but everyone has different tastes. I had a box tuned to 23hz and loved it.

145 in a streat beater is usually good enough for most people, but there are acceptions

i think the older L7s (silver and black ones) will probably be a lot cheaper now that the new ones (blue and silver) came out.

good luck
