Class D vs Class A/B
Is there a significant difference between the amount of power the amps drain from a car's electrical system?
yes I have a class a/b MTX amp that had a max draw of 90 amps but only put out 750 watts at 14.4 volts. Now I have a pheniox gold tantrum 1200.1 class t (basically class d) that draws a max of 80 amps and puts out 1423 watts. plus always runs cool compared to the MTX amp

As he said class A/B is a lot less effeicent than class D. A class A/B amp has to draw more current to produce the same amount of power.

at 1/4 power, class AB will draw more power but most of it is converted to heat, unlike a class D. At full tilt, they're about the same efficiency

So as compared to a 460w(which most likely wasn't even 460w) a/b, my electrical system, wouldn't have ANY trouble with a 300w class D amp. Nice
