Blaupunkt is great, i got all 4 speakers that are blaupunkt. my friend had a face from them that lasted through 5 cars. they all sound good, my 6x9s are 220W max each and my 4x6s are 150W max each and it all sounds great, especially metallica's bass solos

Are you a bit of an audiophile? I'm looking for an informed opinion basically. Thanks for the input!

I am, and they are just ok. If you want good true sounds go for Infinity, you can't lose with them, the only speakers I've heard that are at least comparable to the Infinty Kappas are the MB Quarts.

hey Rockz you didnt pay much attention to the first post lol . he was asking about a cd player and i dont think MB or Infinty make and HU...well infinity may take part in some stock upgrade..but thats another story....

as far as blaupunkt HU's i run one but i grabbed it because it was only like 150 shipped and for the features you cant really beat the price. however there are many brands people prefer, which you may want to look into in the price range.

clarion and panasonic are two major ones that stick out in my mind, for feature to price ratio.

Blaupunkt makes decent stuff and you are only going to get what you pay for, and seeing the priverange you are looking into i can tell you arent the Golden-Eared SQ'r.

So just compare the features of what equipment is in your price range and jump on which appeals to you. Read reviews and ask lots of questions.

Goodluck

Ok, My opinon, I was trying to spare him from it.
Blaupunkt is Blaujunk, I mean they are almost as bad as the xplode line.

I hope that is what you wanted to hear, since blyth18md did not see it fit to just not answer my response. I guess he diagrees about infinty and mb quartz.

Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but...

Red 87SC do you have your speakers amped? I was thinking about just upgrading the speakers instead of getting a sub, but everybody said that they don't give enough bass. I listen to Metallica primarily, so do those speakers really fill in the lows nicely? would you need a little more for the drums too?

If you look on this board (and many others) you'll see people bash every brand for one reason or another, weather it be they favor something else or they had a bad exp with so and so sub etc.
Sony subs do distort ALOT compaired to their older car audio subs though.

I do audio installs all the time, and xplode is by far the worst car audio I have ever worked with. and I have worked with some real crap. Sony is not as bad as Legacy, but close. It(Sony) distorts so much it's not even funny. Plus it is made really cheaply, so it breaks all the time, and when it breaks, it can not be fixed, you might as well buy somthing new.

Blaupunkt is fine. I've had numerous Blaupunkt headunits and they all performed great.

AAMOF I have one now in my wife's car. Love it. Simplicity at it's best. It has *****. I love *****.

Well if Blaupunkt has any good news for it, it is in the new GTO, so I guess it cant be all bad. They must have cleaned their act up in the last couple of years.

I have to say, that's rather rude of you. I don't think that people need to be audiophiles to appreciate good sounding music. I am far from an audiophile and yet I am capable of giving a valid opinion.

Personally I like Pioneer HU. Always have.

pioneer, panasonic, alpine!( if you can find one in your price range, i know a few people that would rather buy used alpine than any other brand new), clarion and i know a few people that swear by kenwood, one inparticular who competes regionally and who says he'll put his couple year old kenwood up against anything in the same price range.

personally i think you should look into panasonic, i believe crutchfield has a special on a few of there decks this month
