Pics of my new setup

Nothing fancy here but I want to show it off nonetheless. 2 Orion XTR 12's and a 200.4 Cobalt amp. You guys think that amp is putting out enough power for the XTRs? I'm thinking of going with a bigger amp. Also need to find a place to mount the amp. I've been thinking about recessing it into the back seat. ideas?

i say buy a bigger sub amp and they bridge each two channels down to one in the 4 channel amp to give more power to your front speakers.

the amp recessed into the back seat sounds like a cool idea, there's a tutorial for it on this site i think

i do want to go with a bigger amp, but for now I have the rear channels bridged and the box is wired in series. Theoretically the subs SHOULD be getting 400 watts

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/JBLBP12001 A good one. 1200x 1 in 2 ohm.

Jbl amps are not as high as some others and perform very well.

keep in mind your enclsore is accountable for 90% of the sound. If you arent happy with the sound your subs make its much more economical to alter to box or make a whole new one than buy a whole new amp. I think most orions work better in ported applications so you might want to try that if you have the space

Yup, true, the ones i heard were in a huge box. It was like 4 feet long x 30 inches high x 12 inches wide. with a 5 or 6 inch port.

those orions only need 200ish w/rms.

if you could free up a little space you will like the way they sound in a ported box.

your amp wouldnt make 400w/rms if it was struck by lightning.
