fuse question
fuse question
alright i'm having a problem with one of my setups with the power fuses blowing. i'm running a 4 ga power wire with 80a fuse right off the battery as well as an 80a fuse at the distribution block and it still keeps blowing.
any idea how to find out what amp fuse to run? also, do you run the same fuse off the battery as you would in the distribution block or larger??

Is the amp powering up at all? Is it powering up, playing music, then popping the fuse? It sounds like you may have a bad/dead amp. If you add up the rating of the fuses in you amp/s that should give you a good idea of what to use for your main fuse.
well the amp is a ppi and it doesn't have any fuses that you can see on the amp...maybe if you take it apart? it's nothing like my other amps that have blade fuses right there easily to see on the side.
as far as the power wire fuses i have two. one right off the battery and then one at the split point on the distribution block.
it's running for awhile and then pops under heavy bass drops.

Can’t fined any paper work on that model. But if it’s working and then popping when the base hits hard, sounds like you need a bigger fuse, but how big. You don’t just want to though a 100A fuse in and hope. Try a Goggle or Yahoo search and see what you can dig up. If you’re running more then one amp, add the total max current pull of each and use that as a main fuse.
The amp is 2x150 watts. I couldn't find how many amps it consumed but an 80 fuse should be enough. Are your grounds for the amp good clean connections? which fuse is blowing the one by the amp or the one by the battery?

Maybe a short? Check the insulation on the power wire. Check around the input of the distribution block. Make sore there is no exposed wire.
