New HU Skips?

My new Panasonic hu seems to skip for one second when I hit pot holes. Should this be happening? Thanks!

sounds like it does not have a RAM built into it or just has a weak anti-ship mechanism

If it’s not mounted properly that could make it more likely to skip. But it could also be new and bad. New don’t mean good. It happens, you’ll buy something brand new and it may have a bad pickup in it right out of the box. I would make sure it’s mounted good first.

No, I dont think its the pickup laser because it doesnt skip whenever I dont drive my car over potholes. The shocks on my camaro are about gone so I have a very rough ride. Haha. Maybe this is causing it to skip for a second whenever I hit a pothole you think?

Could be, that’s why in my first post I said “probably not”. Skipping and how hard a bump is can be VARY subjective.

That has nothing to do with it. A weak optical pickup will be more likely to skip with a given shock. ANYTIME a CD player is skipping excessively (VARY subjective) the optical pickup is the first thing suspect.

Is to worse once the unit has been playing for a while? Optical pickups will sometimes get worse after a 5-30 min. warm-up.

Well, its not really a bad skip. Its like half a second stutter on a huge pothole. Over here in Missouri the streets are sh*t. If I drive on a decent road it doesnt skip at all. It just does it on certain streets with a really rough road. Like if im parked listenin to it it doesnt skip at all. Even if I kind of smack the screeen a little. So I dont know.
