Custom Fiberglass Box
Me and a friend just started a fiberglass enclosure company. We have been working on a box for my camaro, its already duraglass and looks realy good. im gona get a picture of what we got so far tomorrow, we also do roofliners, kick panels, pilar gauge pods, door panels. we even make boxes that fit where the 6x9's go in the rear seats to hold 6x9 and it sorta faces them more forward and its a tuned box so you can actualy get some bass outa those 6x9's. if anyones interested leme know, everythingaftermarket@hotmail.com

This should probably go under the classifieds. Which can be found here --> https://www.thirdgen.org/classifieds/
To keep this tech. Let's see some pics of the subwoofer box. What exactly is duraglass? I don't think I've ever heard of that before.

im workin on the pics today, duraglass is like a super bondo. its a heavy duty filler with actualy fiber strands in it, the ricers use is to mold body kits on because it is very stronge, we use it to get a perfect finish on the fiberglass and it wont rattle off like bondo might.

Ahh so it's like the bondo with the extra long fiberglass strands in it. What type of fiberglass did you use and how many layers?

Bi_axle
We use Bi-Axle fibglass, its basically chop mat on one side, and a woven fabric on the other side. its realy thick and used in boat repairs. one layer of this stuff barly bends when you push it, we use 3-5 layers depending on your speakers power.

Nifty, must be a lot easier just to put a layer that on than having to woven layer then mat layer since the woven layers aren't suppose to touch. What Oz was it?

oz
im not sure what oz it is but i can tell you its thick, soaks up resin like crazy, id compare it with 3 layers of chop mat in one, and it holds its shape like woven cloth, but it is not nearly as curvable, so you gota get crative sometimes with it.

Very nice! So does your box just fit over the old interior panels? How's the removebility on that? It looks like it would take at least 2 guys to man handle it into place. My box (similiar design) is starting to get to the point it's hard to pull in and out, and it doesn't go as far as yours which is around 4 inches+ longer.
You're right about the biaxial I just switched to that type for mine. It's very nice to work with over the regular mat and it's a ton stronger.

well im not a big guy, 18 bout 5'7 and 110 pounds, befor we put the duraglass on it one day i had to take it out alone, took like 30 minutes but i finaly slid it into the back seats then up and out the hatch, but with the duraglass.....yea one real big dude with long arms or 2 people lol. the box in my car isnt easly removable, simply because i wanted it that way, when im done the only way to steal my speakers/amp whould be to cut through very think fiberglass heh, who needs a security system.

Yeah, but you forget there are people out there that if they try to steal stuff and can't get it out easy enough they will just cut/hit/rip and tear the crap out of what ever it is they're trying to steal.
So does the box sit on top of the side interior panels or did you remove them?

Wait, I'm confused are you saying not to make enclosures removeable and make them permanent for security reasons?
He's not saying he takes the box out everytime he leaves the car or even sometimes. I asked the question because I wanted to know if the enclosure was removeable or not, since it looked like it was mold'd to all the plastic trim. Fiberglass itself doesn't stick to plastic well but from the way it looked with all the duraglass I thought they might have made it permanent in the car.
My thinking behind it was having a removeable box would make it easier to change turn signal and tail lights since all that requires you to at least loosen up the plastic pegs from the inside. Also if you did decide to work on the interior panels, hatch motor, or the carpet. gonna be hard with a box that can not be pulled out.
