OEM front speakers, how many Watts???
I have been wondering how many Watts the OEM front speakers where in thirdgens. I want a decent sound but no overkill.
I can get a 60w Kenwood speakers wich fit in the stock location for cheap and was wondering if it would be a much improvement over stock speakers.
Thanks,
Jon H.

For what it's worth, the stock radio put out about 3.5 watts.
However... the power handling on the OEM speakers is quite good, all things considered. Since the OEM head unit carries the unique trait of being able to pump out nearly 100% THD at full volume, it requires a very hearty speaker to be able to withstand that crap. When powered by a clean power source, the OEM speakers are capable of getting fairly loud.
But how good they sound is a whole other story. They don't produce any highs, and the bass isn't exactly outstanding either. The midrange lacks detail, but is actually pretty smooth and not at all harsh. But hey... at least it's not sony.
