Where are you running your power wire?
Just curious. When I bought the car, the previous owner did it down the passenger side, but not through the firewall but out from under the hood and down the door jam (you actually couldnt see it that bad).
But since then, my stereo has been jacked twice, and on the second time they took EVERYTHING (even the wire going to the battery, haha). Insurance bought me new equipment.
But anyway, on past vehicles and on my truck, I went through the passenger side firewall. On that side, though, there is like NO ROOM at all (Maybe it is only like this for TPI, I dont know). So I guess I could try the drivers side. Might be possible that I missed something, not sure. I only have 17 feet to work with.

Well since you don't have much room, I'd put it down the passenger side, and then run all your rca's and speaker wire down the driver side. That way the power signal doesn't have a chance to interfere

When I said I have no room on the passenger side, I meant that I cant find anything on the firewall to go through to get inside. Other messages have suggested the driver side since there is some sort of hole there, but I cant find this on my car. Maybe if someone has some pictures that would be helpful.

it really depends on whether you have a camaro or a firebird; they have their batteries on different sides if i remember right??
having had 2 camaros, i run it on the passenger side. drill a nice big hole right behind the kickpanel (right around the antenna grommit), install a grommit, install wire, and run it down under the door sill channel where all the other wires are.

if you follow the antenna wire under the dash, you will see it goes through the firewall it easier to see if you pull the plastic that is on the inner fenderwell around the passenger front tire and passenger kick panel, you could use that same grommet for your power wire and not have to drill a new hole in the firewall. take a wire hangar and shove it through the grommet carefully and tape your power wire to the hangar and pull it through.

I snapped my wire!
Well, I dont know that much about car stereos... But I do know that I accidently yanked a yellow wire under the hood and found that my radio doesnt work. I also found a snapped yellow wire near the fuse box in the panel under the drivers side ya know? I found that that might be the source of my problem... according to my car alarm manual it says thats the 12v power to the radio. I figured I could find any live 12v source and have my stereo running... But like everycar I need it to shut off when my car is off and turn on from the key or ACC key. So my question is does anyone know where I can splice this wire to so it works like before?

In my IROC I ran the 2 AWG through the kickpanel. It's a fantastic spot, and will work well for large wire, even up to 0 AWG (which I need to upgrade to soon). In my GTA, since the battery is on the driver side, I ran the 4 AWG wire through the firewall right below the clutch master cylinder. I learned a hard lesson about the pitch of the master cylinder and how easily drill bits can penetrate them.
In any case, other than the master cylinder mishap, that spot worked fine.
In my 86 Camaro with no air conditioning, I had plenty of room to run 4 AWG through the firewall under the heater box.
Overall my favorite spot is the passenger kick panel, and I use that spot on every thirdgen that has a passenger side battery.
