Whine????

I have a whine in my stereo system. It happens all the time, with am/fm or cd. I tried moving all the power wire away from the signal wires, no good. I have an older jensen cd player. Broke for now, so I'm saving for a new cd/mp3 player. Would an isolator at the alternator help. No amp yet, just lazy and haven't put it in yet. Any help would be great.

the deck is likely the culprit. try giving the deck a new ground...might help. I wouldn't spend much time on an older Jensen head unit as you might just be chasing ur tail.

That you're problem.
Try to run a ground to the chassis of the deck as well as the one in the harness. They have a problem with the ground opening up in the middle audio path, this will give you a lot of noise. They also had a problem with solder connections under the filter caps. Also, a bad motor ground can give you some bad RFI.
This should get you started....

you can always try a ground loop isolator. I did that and the whine went away. Its more of a bandaid fix rather then the real deal. Only way to really fix it is to re-do your grounds.

First, I would make sure all of the ground wires are connected right, then upgrade the "big 3" with bigger wires, from the block to the ground, the battery to the alt. and the alt to the ground. If you upgrade those wires, you should have less of a problem if it is alternator whine.
