Right, meaning they're not 2-ohm stable. So you cant use 'em.

well once i install my jbl amp Ill let u know but im pretty sure they are 2 ohm mono stable, even 1 ohm stable. You can find em cheap on ebay. Otherwise they cost a pretty penny. Theyre good quality though.

I was looking into JL audio but forget about their prices. LOL

the vast majority of class A/B amplifiers are NOT 2 ohm stable. Generally 2 ohm stereo, 4 ohm mono. The exception to this is a high current design, in which case they are usually stable to 0.5 ohm stereo, 1 ohm mono.

class D monoblock amplifiers in the lesser price/power range are generally 2 ohm mono stable. there are plenty to choose from. as you get bigger power, they go to 1 ohm stable.

but being "stable" is somewhat a misnomer. in either a high current or class D amplifier, you NEED to drive the amp in the lowest rated load to get all the power from it. Yes, you can run a 1 ohm monoblock at 4 ohms, but will only be delivering a fraction of the power. this is even more true of high current a/b amps.

look around...believe MTX has a decent little monoblock that makes 200 or 300 clean watts...

well its 2ohms x 1. the x1 means its one channel and since ur running one sub itll work. audiobahn stuff is 2 ohm stable anyways... or if you want the chart list three amps from that class, and the specs i listed are for all of tehm. the only thing that changes is the watts. also those watts are in RMS

somehow my post on this was deleted what exactly is 2 ohms x 1? I've been in this business 12 years and have never heard of that.

look at the specs in the chart above bud. yes, they are 2 ohm stable, in STEREO. Not many A/B amplifiers go past 4 ohm mono bud, and these are no exception. will they work at 2 ohm mono? maybe (big maybe). will they make more power? NOPE. and the amp will live a MUCH harder life.

you need to be sure of what you're stating for people as they are likely to use the info incorrectly....

dont bother with amps that arent 2 ohm stable in mono. Sorry to say it man but you get what you pay for. Look on ebay as you can usually get at least a 1 year warranty and about half the price. I was pondering on getting a JBL mono block but Im gonna go with a PG Xenon series. High quality. Its like a 600.00 amp and Im only spending a little more then half of that! It puts out a clean 600.1 @ 1-4 ohms. Look for something you know is gonna sound good and thats at a good price.

omg i cant believe my mistake... yall shoulda made it more obvious to me.. sorry its been a long month.. three hurricanes here in FL and you dont think so straight.. well if you check the audiobahn website here you can go to the products area and look at all the amps... they do have a lot that are 2ohm and 1ohm stable but most of those are either above or below ur 250 RMS.. remember that audiobahn lists all of the ratings in RMS

mtx 421D would be a little overkill, but it can be had pretty damned cheap if you shop around.

2 ohm stability has little to do with quality. No different than saying that a V8 isn't as good as a high revving 4 banger because it doesn't rev to 8000 RPM. Different applications. A four channel amp will rarely get driven into a 2 ohm or 1 ohm load, so why pay for that power and not use it?

So most speakers are 4 ohm, most amps are designed with that in mind (class A/B) anyway).

The second half of your paragraph is spot on..

trust you mean aPine if you don't mind overpriced bellybutton equipment, its actually not bad. (bellybutton as in "everybody's got one")

There are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many good brands that its not even worth listing. Some great bang for the buck stuff are JBL and Visonik...

shop around, and judge with your ears and then your wallet. you'll land on the right product.
