There is no single 'this is best for everything' sub. It depends on personal taste, musical preference, and desired amount of bass.

How much money? Are you going for max SPL or max SQ? Going to build your own box? 8"/10"/12"/15"? Looking to drop some money on a big amp, or a more officiant sub with a smaller amp?

well im lookin to spend around 4-500$, and im thinkin of just buying a box for 2 10's, maybe 2 12's, and im prolly just gonna get an amp that is suffeicant in powering the subs.

1 well built 12 will outdo any 2 subs if you buy a quality sub, amp, and head unit as well as a well built box... what im doing is buying a single 12inch sub and amp with a good head unit, most likely buying from elementaldesigns ....

If I were doing it....
I would probably keep all the stress off my cars electrical system by going with low power quality subs such as 2 adire shivas which are 125$ a piece and possibly a Boss amplifier (Boss is affordable and clean). The subs only need aproximately 350 watts rms to get full potential and have a respectable xmax.
In my opinion this is the way to go for good bass that can be impressively loud for the power and money invested.
In my next 3 setups I plan to use similar things.
But I also enjoy using Audiobahn.
