Rear Speaker Cut Out
i tried searching to see if anyone else has had this problem but none of the previous topics on the speakers cutting out resembled my problem.
my right rear speaker went out a while ago but would still emit what i would call static with a bit more bass to it. i just replaced both rear speakers thinking the old speaker was toast, but i still cannot get any audio out of the right rear. when i removed the old speaker something was rattling around so i am pretty sure it is done. all my other speakers have worked fine. i tested the new speaker on another stereo and it works fantastic. i found i would get a similar sound out of the new speaker as the old one when it was dead when i was connecting the contacts (and the radio on). i havent put a meter to it yet but should i check amps or voltage? what kind of numbers should i be looking for?
everything about my stereo is stock on my 91 Formula except for the new 6x9s. any help would be appreciated.

Dont know what type of current to look for, but I would say check the wiring from the deck to the speakers.

Well, at this point it's not the speaker, YET.
If you have a meter you what to set it to ohms (horse shoe looking thing), then ID the wires at the back of the deck that are for the speaker your having problems with (these may NOT be the same colors as the wires at the speakers) and see what the resistance is. If you replaced them with 4 ohm speakers the meter should read 4 ohms or close to it. It should not read 0 ohms OR open.
If that looks good check the resistance to ground. Check each speaker wire to ground, you should see an open here. You should do this with the speaker mounted in place.
Let use know what you find.
