Is there a constant 12v wire as well as the switched 12v?
Check to see if its connected to retain memory.

Yellow is usually the constant (battery) one which will need to have 12v all the time, and the red will be switched through your ign/acc.
They should be separate, with the yellow hooking in somewhere that has constant 12v, like a wire for interior lights etc.

whoa wait a min... just use the factory radio wires... the car has a yellow constany hot for the radio and a red acc wire in it already... no need to splice into the lights
