amp for my speakers?
amp for my speakers?
Ok so i thought i knew bout amps and such but i have no clue when it comes to ohms.. So i have 2 10' pioneer impp's , 4 ohm , 400 W max.. I did have a crossfire 160 x 2 hooked up to them.. So now im looking for a new amp that will be a good combo with these speakers, but have no clue on what im looking at..
Anyone have any suggestions on what i should look at? Oh and by the way I got the subs and amp for free so im not worried if everyone thinks they are bad subs ...

first firgure out the RMS of those subs... i think pioneer calls it nominal or continuous rating..... 2nd you can wire the subs in parallel (posi to posi, neg to neg) so you could get a 2 ohm load. hope that helps

Most amps can't handle a 2 ohm bridged load, so if you parallel the two subs, then bridge the amp, you're going to either fry it, or put it into thermal protection all the time.
If you get an amp that is capable of driving a 2 ohm mono load, then great, go ahead and parallel the 2 subs and hook it to the amp.
Now adays, inexpensive monoblock (1 channel) class D sub amps are dirt cheap, and make a good honest 600-1000 watts depending on the model. Something like that would probably be a good match for your pair of subs.

No, with an amp like that, you wire your subs in parallel like I said above. But keep in mind that even with a 2 ohm load, that amp is only going to put out 350 watts.
