That looks really familiar
I have the same deck in my 89 running speaker level to a Kenwood KAC-8405 which provides 60 WRMS X 4. I did some work to the sail panels and created an enclosure to accommodate a pair of Kenwood KFC-XW800F 8" woofers from the Excelon series. With the fabric over the sail panels, you'd never know there's an 8' woofer in there except for a little deeper bass than a 6X9. I'm also using the AUX input on the back of the head unit to play the audio from a satellite receiver.

I have future plans to install JL Audio's Clean Sweep signal processor, hence the space in front of the amp on the board.

Here's the system in my car, One 12" Kick comp dual coil 400 rms 800 max, 8 ohm wired just to make sure I don't miss any beats. A Crunch 1100 watt 2 channel AMP with two 6x9 Sony Xplod speakers. (I'm going to be replacing them with some higher watt Kenwoods soon.) And a Kenwood deck. Spent about 500 or so on the sub, amp ,speakers, deck, AMP wiring kit, and supplies for the box and shrink tubing. The box is a 2 inch ported and hits hard on the high notes but I can still hear/feel the low notes so that "What size should I make the hole and how long of a funnel" guess ended up being amazing. I'll be adding another kick comp sub on a separate box just so If I need the trunk space I can take one out and not be without subs. All in all I love how cheap and affective this sound system upgrade was and say Kicker is the way to go!

Upgraded the system in the Bird. It wont win any events, but it provides a much needed bass boost for the car.
Kenwood MP245 Deck
Kenwood Excelon X172 6 3/4" sail panel speakers
JBL 8" 800 watt Sub woofer
Crunch 1000 watt Amp
I may eventually upgrade the front dash speakers, but so far, stock speakers remain.

The amp box with the two 6.5" speakers will have a large bow tie cut in to it with plexy glass over it and back lit with orange lighting to accent the car.

Is there a benefit to mounting your subs facing down rather than facing up?

Kinda overkill for the rock I listen to, but the mids sound real nice through the subs. I went through three sets of dash and rear speakers before I found a set that was crisp enough.

Well I finally have something to add to this post. What do you all think.
Pioneer deh 15mb
Pioneer 5500t 820 watt amp works out to be 190w continuous at 2 ohms
2 X Pioneer ts-w259d4 10 inch subs 1200 watt peak 350 continuous
pioneer 4x6 in the dash
? 6 inch in the qform kick panels
and I know phase linear 6x8's in the sail panels.
next is to replace all none pioneer speakers with pioneer
This is the first sound system i have ever done. I have never put one in a car like this before. the iroc metal plate glows orange. does anyone know how to get it to glow more tho. I heard sanding the plexi difuses the light more and makes it glow more is that true ?

Mines pretty simple 2 jl audio w3v3s with a 600 watt alpine marine amp not the loudest ive heard personally but loud enough for the police to say im disturbing the peace lol
Junior Member

Box could fit a little better but not too bad. This is right after I put them in, lookin a little messy. Two Kicker 12" 10C124 Subs and a Kenwood KAC-7205 amp. Definitely gets the job done. Now I want new amp/speakers for mids and highs and a new headunit

you need to upload them to a host site (picasa, photobucket etc) and then copy the image location into the "image" dialog box in the quick reply
