My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Ok so my car did not come with courtesy lights so I decided to add some and switch the dash led's to red also added a led to the hvac control
I bought some Withe wide angle led with built in resistors made for 12 volts to 14 volts on ebay they look like this
also got some led holders to hold them on the kick panels
made the hole to put them in
this is how they look when they're are on
Im adding one more by the fuse panel I'll add more pics tomorrow for the Hvac led and some on how to wire them so they could come on when doors are open Adding some to the hatch area too
this is how it look just with the led but I'm switch this light for a red one tomorrow
Looks good man. How did the kick panels turn out. I took my stock bulbs out and used trailer licence plate LEDS for my footwells and 2 of them for my dome and its crazy bright in there now
Thanks Formula...6six well so far so good but I'm going to ad more pics I couldn't finish it today since it started raining, I'm thinking adding some for the back seats.
Ok so I found a way to connect the L.E.D light to come on when opening the door, with the dome light and turning them on with the Dim Switch. Ok so this is for a 92 firebird and pretty sure should be for camaros too. I connected the Power to a cable giving power the whole time the ground, I had to connect it to the Door pin Switch which is this one
This is how it looks from the back if you remove the kick Panel it should have 2 wire connected to it I grounded the cable to the white wire, now this makes the under lights come on when the door is open. Also you could turn them on with the Dim switch for the Gauges
I just Switched the Rearview Mirror to Bright White Led Too
This are the white LED's I got from Ebay I had to do Some modification to make it fit I had to take them out of their housing and cut that small ring so they could fit
Like this one
And here is Installed well one of them
This is how it looks inside is really bright But the phone doesn't really capture the light

I also Started Doing a Double Din Bezel, I seen Double Mods selling them and they are nice but I'm on a budget to fix my car so anyways I'm doing one my self. I went to home depot and bought thin sheet of wood was like $5 Put my old bezel and traced it is not the final version I still need to buy a textured spray paint and add the moldings in the back
Here it is just to see where i need to fix the imperfections
Is A jvc av-60bt
I started to do it as plexi glass but my Dremel kept melting it.
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
That trim plate looks alright, but I would go at it with a chisel and a sandpaper to round out the edges. It would make it look more finished.
Also, fixing the hanging radio pod would help the look out some. Every one I have seen is broken, and one side hangs down onto the console. I fixed mine with epoxy made for plastic and reinforced it by laying screen material into the epoxy before it dried (on the broken area and others prone to breaking). It is stronger than ever and looks like I never touched it.
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Yeah I still need to sand the edges well all around. The radio pod is good I just had to take it out to cut some plastic in the back, it wasn't bolt in in the picture. But I will use that epoxy for other parts in the car Thanks. I was thinking of putting the bed liner spray to give it the texture on the bezel.
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
So I started today on the dash pad like I said the cracks were pretty bad, and can't spend 100+ on a new one so for now this will have to do. I bought some vinyl make sure you buy at least to make 2 dash pads if you mess up on the first one. Well here it is so far just need to cut the front section for the vents I'm still trying to figure out how to do it I just don't want to cut it
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
ok so today I finished my radio bezel I hadn't had any time till today here it is. I added some Bondo for some imperfections, I know is not perfect but better than Spending $100
Some Sanding
Added the Rust-oleum Truck Armor Spray it gives it the textured Look $8
And here it is installed
It Looks better in person lol
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
The leds and double din look sick man. I made a custom gauge panel for my camaro and used some textured hobby sheet plastic and it matched the stock stuff perfect.
Where did you get the LEDS for the map lights on the rear view mirrior and what size where they as ive been looking for some for my car for awhile now
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Thanks bro.....do you have any pics of your gauges and how does the textured hobby sheet look like and where to buy ....I got them from ebay they're wedge super white led 194 or t10 is the same thing they have a blueish color to them they look exactly like this ones I just had to cut the ring like the top pics http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-super-Wh...e1453b&vxp=mtr

Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Thanks for the link. They look to be the same ones i put in my Autometer gauges. How does it sit in the mirrior and I thought the mirrior used tube style bulbs or are they 194s in the mirrior?
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Thaks man. I bet mine are 194's too i just never even thought to open them yet.
Where did you get the LED's you used for under the dash that have the wires attached to them. I think they where in the ifst pic you took as I have a idea now on using them on my sub box
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
From Ebay too here is the link they come with the wire attached and with the resistor already built in the seller has different colors just make sure they don't say blinking led
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Thanks for the links.
The silver rings for the guages are on them when I bought them. All sport comp gauges have the silver rings on them. Some series of gauges have black I think. I oersonally like the sport comp as they are simple looking and look like the stock gauges from 3rd gen

I ordered the LEDs but the wire was sold out by the time I got a shipping quote. I got alot of 16 and 18 guage kicking around so Ill just use that then.
You can look up sub box dimentions here on tgo just put it in the search box. I know ive seen various box box blueprints
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
I had to cut the back plastic from the radio pot the middle part in the back I did not put the cage on the double din since it was a little bigger ...I would have to considered the plastic textured sheet for future projects thanks....and for the speaker box I cant really tell you the specs since I bought it from a sound shop for like 40$ but that was like 3 years ago.....also check this thread by Punisher shows how to make it fit https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...el-double.html

Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Looks neat. My buddy replaced his gauges with autometer gauges, man I thought he was gonna die doing all that wiring and drawing his own schematics. P.S Can you read your gauges with the steering wheel on? Looks hard to see.

Good luck bro ...when ever you do the hatch post pics I still Had not decided on where to mount them
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
So I haven't been in the forum for a long time. Haven't drove my car in 2 yrs but about to get it ready again and this is my latest Mod. I added LED light to the hatch area aswell and will be adding LED to the fog lights. Stil doing more LED Mods.
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Also Changed the Dashboard Speaker grills since the other ones were really beat up. Not the best looking ones but they'll do. You could see creases from the broken dashboard since I re-did it with vinyl fabric.

I'd like to see that from the front or a better angle. I have been thinking about adding an LED strip to that area
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Also Working on adding more LEDs Just Added the following with 8mm Lights. Working on the hatch area Pics will be up later on Tomorrow . Here are some Pics of what was done Today. Make sure to add hot glue or whatevet you prefer to hold the LED in Place or else it'll just come out. Also pop the side holder plastic out, so the bezel will stay in Place.

Did you just stick the strip right to the nose? or did you cut a slot for that?
I was thinking of using a side emitting LED strip way back in the pocket by the lights and have it curve up the sides, so it isn't visible when the light isn't on

Just used really strong 3m Double Sided Tape...They do come with some clips to screw them but didn't go that route. That was what I wanted to do first but it wasn't working because the strips are too long. You could maybe cut them to the right size and Re-seal them.
Re: My small Led And double din, and dashpad Project with pics and how to
Oh, I just buy the LED strip in bulk and it shows where to cut. Then you trim the silicone off the contacts and solder on the wires, put a dab of something over the bare solder when finished, or not. I may consider doing this again when I put my car back together and wire them to the running lights or something
