Welcome to the board,
Some of your pics need to be redone... one of the hatch view is really small, even when enlarged.
Nice car. I really like how white paint looks so clean.
What exactly is an XS anyways?
Depending on how long you've been in MaComb you've probably seen my bird around. Been in storage for the last 1 1/2 years though.

yeah. the picture of the hatch originally is a lame one. but its just the basic picture. my goal was the whole "before and after" effect. what it did look like and what it does now.
Nah, i prolly havnt seen your car around. i just got to macomb in december for college.

oh, by the way, from what i understand from a pontiac dealership. a 1989 firebird XS is just a dealership edition.
It came wiht added T-Tops (which im told by a dealership the 89 models didnt come stock with)
AND
it came with a trans-am body kit (whihc the 89 birds did not come with stock either)
thats what im told the XS was.

I made the JL symbol out of Fiberglass. They are W3v2s. Each one is in a sealed 1.25cu ft box. They sound clean musically. I am impressed with them. I am more for SQ then SPL but they also can crank out some dbs. I can hit mid 130s.

i blew out a 50amp fuse in my distribution block getting that spl rating, but hey it was worth it. lol my amp wired at 1ohm and the dual voice coil subs wired down to 2ohms puts out a lot of power.
i do wish i had a box like dusty's thought. its niice

how did you wire the amp to 1 ohm and the subs to 2 ohms?? the subs each were 2 ohm then paralleled for 1 ohm??

148dB?! I don't mean to start anything... but the highest ever reached was 171 dB - you're saying just shy of 20 under that? You're running 2 w3's too... which are recommended to run at 250-300 watts RMS.
There are people out there with heavy-duty amps running RE XXX's which are 1600w RMS, and they might be seeing around 150dB

my subs may not be the best out there, especially considering the resonant engineering subs that are out there(i used to have one, i know what they can do) but with the right set up and good accoustics of the car, thats what i ran in a compitition. ill be entering in another compitition here sometime in April and they will be testing with the new mic so it will be almost "dead on accurate" so ill see what they can do then.

negative to negative, then negative out
positive to positive, positive out.
bridge the two positive and negative wires together to the amp placing in only one + output and one - output creating 1ohm

i know how ohms law works.. i was confused when you said that you wired the amp to one ohm and the speakers to 2 ohms. just you choice of wording was wierd. i just say that i wired both my subs to show a 4ohm load on my amp. DVC wired so and so is assumed already

Make sure they're not clipping... or you're in for a surprise...
mmmm the smell of melted voice coil...
I still say however, that you will be showing between 130 and 140 MAX. I used to be an asst shop manager (damn, wish that paid more) and we measured dB for free. We also sold JL there, so I saw plenty of systems with a similar set up. Just my $.02

Don't mind me. I'm an English major... and a major ***
Great looking car and setup. Only problem is, you not only boast about the value of the audio... but also put the town you're in and your plates are visible. Keep in mind that Cardomain is a shopping list for thieves!

I thought the plates were photoshopped... because they are strangely off-centered... that's not the real location, right? no one would ever put it there.
either lose it altogether, or center it.
I lost mine against a guardrail about 2 years ago.. no going back for me.
