screw hifonics
wow. so yeah, after wiring in my stereo correctly and adding a better cd deck wiht more options n stuff. ive always said good things about hifonics amplifiers. well, after today. i changed my mind. ive got a brutus mx1000d class-d mono block amplifier. this amp is supposedly steady at 1ohm. well it does in fact reach 1 ohm. so no complaints there. i run two jl audio w3v2-d4 subs. ran parallel with eachother at 2ohms to get the amplifier down to 1ohm. blah blah blah.. after the new cd player was put in, i obviously messed around with all the settings and found the right settings for best output. my little fricking hifonics amp, that supposedly pushes out 1000 watts is a complete piece of crap!! that amplifier ran at 1ohm to two jl audio w3v2 subs running at a consisntant 13.6 voltage (while the subs are hitting, and 14.34 when they are not) doesnt even push a continious 500watts. i plugged ONE 50 amp fuse and thats all it needs. that amp is such a crapper for the money paid for it. supposedly 1000 watts and its pushing LESS than 500 at 1ohm. good effing game. =x
That is no way to tell what kind of power output you amp is capable of. Speakers are a reactive load, as frequency changes so does the resistance values of the speaker. Also depending on what box you have will determine the resistance of your speakers throughout the frequency range. At some bass tones you speaker could have as much as 20-30+ ohms of resistance.
The only proper way to test your amp (atleast for someone who doesn't have the money for a full test lab) is to use a dummy load which is a non reactive load, an AC clamp meter to see how many amps your actully using, and an oscope to check for clipping.
Like I said before Im not saying that hifonics super great amp as I have never used one and have no idea how much clean power they can actully put out.

yea dude.. you are stuck guestimatin your wattage by changing fuses and looking at a voltmeter.... the only proper way is what he described above me

yup...
for the 10 minutes I used my bx1605... I'd say it made the 1100 watts at 2ohms that they claim... my subs felt like they were going to burst....
you seem to always have some ludacris way of measuring things ryan...
