Bought a new Head Unit

Just thought i would mention this cuz i am super happy with this deck. Bought me the Pioneer DEH-770MP. 4V Preouts, Mp3/WMA/ACC codecs, Organic Display...all for the price of $389. I upgraded from my old DEH-560P which had the 2.2V preouts and no mp3 but it had the organic display.

I definately like this deck, easy to use and the 4V preouts definately made my subs cleaner...now i just have to work on my front stage.

I can say I've never noticed a bit of difference between different preamp voltages...

you just compensate by turning up the gain on the amp itself.

it's pretty much all in your head.

that the newest second-most-expensive pioneer at Bestbuy... the most expensive is the 80mp or whatever...

if you cruise around, some of the best buys are actually getting in some good decks... like $500-700...

Actually the 4V preouts won't generate as much unwanted noise as the 2V preout woudl allowing you to keep the gains down on the amp. Makes for a cleaner sound. I definately noticed a decent increase in quality of sound when I installed the new DEH-770mp over my DEH-650p

4 volt pre-outs vs. 2 volt pre-outs allow you to adjust the gains on the amp an amount which results in a 3dB drop in the noise floor.

Anybody who can hear the noise floor in their amps should buy better amps. The fact is, almost every modern amp is so quiet that lowering the noise floor is absolutely unnecessary. I've used head units with as little as 0.5 volt pre-outs before the whole high-volt popularity started and they were still as clean and as quiet as you could ask for.

that's what I was hinting at... I mean there are even decks with 6.5v pre-amp outputs, (DEH-P80mp)... I bet the difference from a 2v is minimal, if nothing.
