Does anyone know the size of the front dash speakers, I forgot the size of them, and can I get what recommendation brand?

they are 4x6s (thanks, GM) my recommendation would be a set of 4x6 plates from Boston Accoustics, model number 746

I personally own 2 pairs of 746 plates. If you're not willing/able to transition to kick panels, the 746 plates are about the best option I've found for these cars. Keep in mind that they are nowhere near a drop-in replacement for firebirds and 90-92 Camaros. Some cutting and some heating/repositioning of the heater lines is necessary. There's a step-by-step "how to" that covers this in the tech section of this website.

kewl, i used to own a 85 camaro, i put sum 4 by 6's, umm Kicker punch i think and sum 420 w 6 by 9's pioneers, but it had a piece of shyt jensen all in one player deck, (am-fm/cd/casette)
Any recommendations for 6 by 9's and stereo deck?

Nx 97 speakers from boston accoustics wont do you wrong, and if u can find it, buy an alpine CDA - 9835. The reason behind finding it is because that is an 04 model and alpine revised it for 05 and gave crappy stuff like glide touch and reduced the power of the amp as well. the 05 model is like model number 9860 or sumthing similar

alpine head units will do you good. Id reccomend one with 3 sets of preouts and mp3.

Clarion is also really good.

My advice is to buy a set of kick panels from Jim or Rez, and put some components in and forget about the rest Otherwise, don't worry about upgrading!

My setup definitely isn't what I'd call extreme. It gets loud, but I don't care if the people down the street can hear me (and would prefer that the cops not hear me down the street, either). I only spent about $125 on the components and $30 on some custom kick panels. Throw in a decent amplifier for about 100-150 and you're golden.

Once you hear someone who has done their car audio the right way, you will only be disappointed with a mediocre setup. By the time you buy a head unit, speakers, amp, wiring, and subs, you're looking at $1000 easy, but its 1,000 times better than any of the "premium" setups from the dealers, which usually cost at least $1,000. So if you look at it that way, its worth every penny.

I really don't hear much of a difference between a set of coax's or the factory speakers run off the headunit. Minor differences include a little more high frequencies, and a little more midbass - both of which are usually not as detailed as they should be.

I guess sum Boston Acoustics for the 4 X 6's would be good. Then some component 6 X 9 would be good also, and along with an alpine head unit.

ive actually got an old school brand for my front speakers.

got me a pair of old school kicker compitition 4x6. there nice. i like umm. never had any problem with them whatsoever and they sound pretty darn good. (i went for clarity with all side speakers since my subs put out a crap load of bass)

I used to like the old Kicker Impulse 4x6s. They were some of the better sounding conventional 4x6 coaxes that I've heard.
