Map Pocket 'delete'
I use my map pocket as a mini-glove box, but I recently saw an eBay sale car that looked to be modded for a GPS or DVD in dash system, where there was a flatmount LCD put in place of the pocket area. There was no description so I'm wondering if there is more info on a custom install of this sort. I'm thinking DVD off the main unit and a GPS or extended display in the headunit.
Looking at the very late model Cadillacs (STS, 05) their headunit has a DVD sized display but no indication of DVD functionality so it might just be used for other things.
Hard to tell with LCDs when off though

Is the pocket still behind it? The photo I'd seen was shot from outside the driver's door so it was hard to see detail. I think in terms of guarding against prying eyes (i.e. theft prevention) some examples of what might work best would be good, unless this has been posted prior? I haven't looked at every catagory on the site, but find it excellent for tackling issues specific to these cars
Mine is a convertible which is why I'm not too keen on dropping mega bucks on car stereo but have seen DVD for cars at very reasonable prices (around $100 for an indash player...or ceiling mount style)

What I did was put magnets under those vinyl pieces, then magnets on the back of the dash pouch and then I had a removable pocket. Totally stock looking so no stolen LCD screen.
