Anybody have a good system idea for metal (no subs)

Hi, I have come here several times and I always just notice subs and more subs. I like listening to metal though, and I want a speaker set with good high end and midrange. I already have an aiwa head unit waiting for the car. (Chose it because it was fairly cheap and has a 1/8 inch aux input right on the front of it). Anyhow, I was thinking of going with the infinity 4x6's that has the 4 inch speaker and the tweeter on the side of it, and the alpine 6x9's with the black like 6 spoke design over the speaker. sorry, i dont know much about it, but i figure the 4 inch, the tweeter, and that 6x9 would sound good. also, how does the dash grille thing affect the sound of the front speakers? thanks a lot.

I currently have the infinity reference 4X6 plates in the front as well as the infinity reference 6X9's along with my pioneer HU and the high and mid range is quite clear even at high volumes, the grill for the dash pad doesnt seem to hurt the sound quality at all because i listened to them with the pad off when i first installed them, and when i put the pad back on it made the low and mid range sound better and the high end wasnt effected at all really.

I listen to metal but I'm getting a single 10" for the kick drum and palm mutes. If its set up right it'll sound great and fill out the sound. My friend has dual 8"s and it sounds really tight.

The 6X9's are absolutely awesome, i love them, couldnt ask for better sound from a 6X9, im not currently doing this, but ive heard if you run them with an amp you can get sub quality bass out of them as well. I listen to most kinds of rock and some metal and these are great for that, again, as of right now im not too concerned with heart pounding bass.

Infinity and Alpine speakers and going to get lost behind an Aiwa HU. Get a good source unit first and build from there.

I have used two Awia units in cars. I've always had good luck. Not to hijack the thread, but what's so detrimental to sound production in these models?

Let me start by saying I'm not trying to start any thing. But Aiwa is a low-end manufacture, the sound quality just and build quality is vary low. As ZZ 86 Z28 said, it was cheep, and if it fills his taste fine, but still a low end unit. The front input is nice also. I don't know why more haven’t done this with the popularity or portable MP3 players. Their flip-face HU have a high rate of failure with the ribbon cables to the faceplate, bad suspension design, bad optical pickups, pore APC design, weak tuners, ... With that HU you wouldn’t come close to the potential of those speakers.
But like I said, if he’s all about the front input, there’s not a lot out there. Other ways to do it, but my not be what he needs.

Thats cool. I'm not into flame wars either. I was just wondering what was iffy about it. Now I see that it's alot, lol. I got my first unit free from my brother, and my second as a X-Mas present cuz I like and want that front input. Thanks for the information, makes me wonder. :-)
