what amp for this sub???
i was wondering if someone could help me find an amp. or at least tell me what i need to look for in an amp.
here is a link i got from jlaudio with all the specs of this sub. its the 12W4-D4.
i have no idea what i need. im on a budget, this is a used sub; however it seems to be in good shape. i had an audio shop test the coils. they were good. thanks in advance.

i used to have 2 of those in my camaro. they slammed. i had a top of the line (in 2000 anyway) alpine v12 amp running them, i believe it was 1200 watts. i think they're only rated to handle 500 watts or so.
are you only planning on running one speaker, or do you plan on possibly upgrading in the future?

I got 3 of these for 70 bucks each because of their 105% price match system. I am putting them in a custom install with 3 Pioneer TS-W256DVC subs. I know that they aren't the best but I heard nothing but good things about the reference line of amps. Thought I would give them a try. Just please stay of away from the Sony XPLOD amps. I bought two for my Alpine Type-Rs and returned them three times because of overheating problems.

another question...
in order for me to have a remote, or "bass ****"(as i call them), does my amp have to have any special feature for this? if so, what should i look for when reading features on a amp? because this is the only way i wanna do it.

You need to look for an amp that has a bass **** connector on it. If you click the link I made it says on their that it has one. That is what you need to look for on the amp specs/features. Some amps have it but you need to buy the **** separate. Some amps are also **** specific. In other words, you will need to buy their/brand specific ****.

my elemental designs nine.1 comes with a bass ****. its 900x1 at 2 ohms and 1200x1 at 1 ohm, but they are underrated and most produce over 1400 watts if you can give them 14.4 volts. it would be more than enough to run that w4, probably wouldnt only turn it up halfway at 2 ohms. if you decided to run 2 12's or even 15's int he future, it will be plenty of power unless you're talking 3 and 400 dollar speakers that need 1500+ watts to get moving.
mine is turned up about 3/4 of the way at 1 ohm to my 2 rl-p 12's, and it beats down. they're cheap for such a powerful amp, i paid 300 shipped for mine. they had a warehouse clearing deal, i dont know if you can still get it for that price, normally they are 350 shipped.
i believe eD's site is www.edesignaudio.com

I haven't done the install yet. I am awaiting the packages. I found it for 79 on fry's electronics i believe. I contacted cardomain.com for the price match and they said 70.95 and I said "I'd take 'em."
