help with ford focus sub install

i dont really post here much, i mostly just read the good threads, but i am trying to install a sub in my gf's 2001 ford focus with a stock head unit, and i ran into some wiring problems. 1. i need to install the rca adapter, but i dont know which wires are for the left and right speakers. 2. i need to install the remote amp turn on wire which i dont know where it would go. i was wondering if anyone could help me out with this or provide a wiring diagram. its the stock cd player for a ford focus. i cant stand that she drives a ford btw.

well dont know exactly what u mean w/ the rca to which speaker but if you mean which color is right and which left i belive red is right but not pos. may wanna get a second opinion on that but it dosent really matter the female part should also be color codded as for the remote wire just look for the wire on your stock wires labeled ign. or memory thats the one u put it too....also if u have a volt meter just find the wire that is only 12 volt when ignition is turned on..

you probably should have purchased an amplifier with speaker-level inputs... on stock cars this is highly recommended... would have been much easier...

does your amp have high-level inputs as well as RCAs?

well if your talking stock head unit then you need a speaker to rca conversioin i believe to go into your rca input on the amp. As for your remote turn on wire(blue) it needs to go into the amps remote turn on signal input....Did you read any instructions?

yup, or just use the high-level inputs on the amp (most good amps have 'em)

the solution

ok let me tell you, you buy whats called an rca adaptor for a factory radio. what it does is basically it's a box that hooks up to two speakers a left and a right and then it converts those wires into rca's this is where your going to plug in the rca's that come from the amp. The amp turn on or remote wire you can actually hook it up to a fuse in the fuse box, but you've got to check it out with a volt meter. The way you do this is that when you turn on the ignition of the car the fuse should register 12volts, when you shut the car off it should read 0. This is the easiest way to do it and I've never had a problem doing it this way, if you don't want to mess with the factory wiring behind the radio.

if your amp has high-level inputs, it doesn't even need a remote turn on wire.

what?????

yes you do, you need something to turn on the amplifier, the only way to do that is to get the signal from a wire, the high level inputs are for sound not for power....
