Diamonds
Lets talk about diamonds, and I don't mean the ones you wife is beggin' for at the zale's store. I mean Diamond Audio, any one have any subs, amps? What is your opinion on them? Do you like/not like and why?

I've always wanted a set, but they are VERY expensive... and their cheaper stuff, I would assume, is not very good..
that's what most high-end companies do... they make a name for themselves with high-end goodness, then pawn off a bunch of cheap stuff at the low end.
I'm not saying that the lower end stuff is worse than pioneer, but there are companies that don't necessarily go as high (pricewise,) as Diamond, and may be better bang for your buck.
A perfect example is Infinity. The make nice kappa perfect 6.1s... but they also pawn off the reference crap... if you made a chart of price vs quality, you'd find that the perfects were a better value overall.
Man the last set of Diamonds I looked at were like $600! I think they might have been 3-ways, but I'm not sure... I just can't see how they could cost that much... I mean seriously bad-*** home theatre speakers that can fill an entire room with delicious music costs less than half that price...

I had a pair of 12" 500W RMS M5 Mag Alloy subs on my transam a while back, I really liked them, they are very stiff, I would compare them to the kicker solobaric L7 sub, only round.
I used to drive them with a performance technike 2000W max amp, and they really shook the car and your brain if you were in the car, but, I think that the amp I was using was too little for those subs.
One of the things that I like about this subs is that they let you use a relativelly small enclosure like .45cu/ft if you use 400w on the 10" sub
I have two pairs, a pair of 10" and a pair of 12" and I'm debating on which ones to install on my camaro.
I would give Diamond Audio two
Here's a picture of the 12" on the transam

well, i got the same impression when I first heard them, and I didn't even listen to the big stuff. This place in town sells them and I was there one day and the guy had (4) 8" subs in a really small box, that would fit behind the seat in an s-10, these little dudes hit so damn hard I couldn't believe it. Hurt my damn ears. Thanks for the imput on this. May be getting some 12s and a small amp. Just for a little thud.
