JL or Earthquake

Which brand is better.

Build me a system with just JL products and just Earthquake, and then one mixed.

Thanks

Price range around 2gs just need amps, subs, speakers maybe.

quite honestly, while JL audio has a great reputation, all of their equipment is overpriced, I would recommend CDT for speakers and an Image dynamics IDQ or IDMax, both are great subs, The IDQ is more of a SQ, and you can find them pretty cheap on eBay or cardomain, and the IDMax is more SQL and will cost more too. The biggest problem with those companies, is that it is hard to ever really get to hear the products, I dont know of anywhere besides straight from the factory that you can purchase CDT, but here is the Image Dynamics website
http://imagedynamicsusa.com/page.php?page=locator
I would definately see if there is a store nearby and listen to some of their subs

But if you really want to stick with JL, I honestly just am not a fan of Earthquake, they do make some quality products i have personally never liked the sound, Id go with a pair of XR component speaks -$200, a e2150 amp for the speaks-$250, w6v2 sub-$300, 500/1 amp- ~~$450 That brings you close to $1200, you will need a box for the sub...hmm an el camino...that may be hard, ive never really noticed how much space there is...and amp wiring kit, unless you are having all installation done professionally, it should be around ~ $1650 total.

all of this high end, high power equipment will require alot of work from your alternator, that may be an issue as well...and im assuming you have and aftermarket hu as well right?

you can do a pretty nice system with 2 g's if you dont just go out to your local car audio shop and tell em to make you slam.

you CAN fit 2 15's in the back of a third gen but i wouldnt recommend it unless you can build your own box or have one built cheap. dont buy some cheap prefab box or you'll probably regret it.

do you already have a deck, any amps, wiring, stuff like that?
should check out the soundsplinter speakers, probably the best you can do for your money in the 200-300 dollar per speaker range.

www.soundsplinter.com

i run 2 rl-p's, but they just released the rl-s's which are more like 4-500 a piece, but they're insane.

heres a rundown of what i spent on my system if it helps any. i hit around 145 db with a sealed box and 2 12's.

compustar 900fm alarm - 600 (do this first if you're gonna be slammin)
kenwood excelon x979 deck - 330 new off ebay
orion 8004 200x4 amp - 250
elemental designs nine.1 amp 1400x1 - 300
2 soundsplinter rl-p 12's - 430
infinity kappa 462.7 4x6's - 100
rcas, 0/1 gauge, 4 gauge, terminals - ~ 120
rainbow 265.03 6.5 inch components (ordered) - 300
custom kickpanels - ~150-200
optima yellow top 31 series - 150 used
custom 200 amp excessive amperage alternator - 250
materials to build box - 40-50

comes to about 2500 without the alarm, but i didnt really go cheap anywhere.

yeah, you should really explore your options. with that much $$$ you shouldnt limit yourself, also theres a website www.ecoustics.com with really active message boards with alot of excellent help there if you want more advice

well with jl and audio i have "friends" who represent each company so thats why i put the 2 g limit and with using their components and with their discount im sure i can get what i need for about 800 or about 2gs with normal pricing.

i duno if you can get 2g's worth of stuff for 800, i guess i'd go with all jl over earthquake. stuff is just so damned expensive at normal pricing.
