okay fellas i need help. I am on a tight budget. I'd like to buy an amp and subs with 700 dollars.. Is it possible? , i want to get at least one 12 inch sub with a nice amp. I'll worry about getting 6x9's later. I want some nice bass but nothing to crazy. this is going to be my first system. Anything descent for that price? point me in the right direction guys..thanks

very nice sound quality speakers, but they still get loud enough to make you a little uncomfortable. they're what a lot of people might consider "crazy"

 

your the man, im ordering a.s.a.p , What should i do about some new 6x9's.. the dashboard speakers are worth replacing? . I have an alpine headunit. (wish i knew which one) i'll get back to you guys on that one

 

probably want to wait until you have more cash to do the highs. good 6x9s will sound good but still wont have great midbass just because of the way the sail panels are, not sealed up at all. the best way to go seems to be components in kickpanels with either 4's or 4x6's in the dash. i have infinity kappa 462.7 4x6's and i ordered 6.5 inch rainbow components for some kickpanels but the rainbows run about 300 bucks and need a lot of clean power.

i wouldnt even buy nice speakers if i planned to run them off the deck, but as long as you dont crank it too much it should be fine.

are you building your own box? these are really high quality speakers, want to have a good home for them, wouldnt just buy some qlogic prefab or something and call it good. woofers weigh about 35 pounds a piece, it made my rear sag a bit lol.

oh and that nine.1 makes that power at 1 ohm. itll tax your electrical system if you turn that amp up, i didnt really have to but i replaced my alternator with a 200 amp excessive amperage unit and my battery with a 31 series optima yellow top. the voltage would drop pretty hard when the bass would hit. could always leave it turned down until you beef up your electrical system, believe me itll still be loud.

 

so the subs to will run at 1 ohm also?. Sorry im new to the whole car audio thing. Btw my friend whom does installs is willing to build a nice box for me

 

so basically i dont have to go to crazy with the 6x9's? i mean the subs will be pumping the bass my 6x9's can go real loud without bass and sound real nice.what about elemental design subs

 

yeah i wouldnt go crazy with the 6x9s but dont go cheap either. you're going to need some loud highs to be able to hear them over the bass. again, these woofers are no joke.

they're dual 4 ohm voice coils, with 2 speakers wired in series itll be a 1 ohm load.

the old elemental designs a series woofers were awesome, were based on the same motor as the rl-p. the newer ones aren't made by tc sounds anymore, image dynamics makes them for ed. they're nice speakers and all, but i wouldnt compare the ov.2's to rl-p's. sure are some sexy subs though.

are you planning on buying an amp to run your highs later or leaving them on deck power?

gonna be nice to have someone else on here thats experienced soundsplinter speakers, starting to feel like quite the loner/fanboy lmao

another thing is that subs dont handle all the bass, just 80hz and under in most applications for 10's and bigger. i dont have my components hooked up yet, and i have real loud highs from the 4x6's, bass from the 12's, but a lot in between is missing, the 6.5's will fill that in nicely. thats what i meant by 6x9s wont give great midbass in the sailpanels. midbass is generally 80hz-150 or so.

 

ID doesn't make them. eD has there own facilities.

 

i am thinking i may just run the 6x9's off my radio. But maybe i'll get an amp later for them. I just want to hear how everything will sound. IF i am pleased i will keep it if not i'll upgrade to amping the 6x9's and so on.

 

really, i could have sworn that id was making the kv and ov's. do they supply the motors or any other parts?

 

Some of theparts might be the same as some of the parts are off the shelf parts but there is internal tooling that makes it eD. At one point they were putting them together but now its done elsewhere. The only place that was putting anything they have instock togherther was CDT but Im not sure if thats the case now.
