Hi. I took my cd player out of my civic today. It is an aiwa player. And I wanted to put it in the camaro now. I have a honda mounting kit and wiring harness with it too. Will I need a different wiring harness and mounting kit for this car now? And also, do I even need the mounting kit, or can I just let it sit in there? And finally, do I even need the wiring harness, or can I just solder the wires myself? Also, anything I might not be thinking of, can you please let me know about it. Thanks a lot guys.

First off, you need a diff harness connector completely different then the Honda. You could cut into the stock harness but I wouldn't do that. Yes you need a new mounting kit. They sell them at Walmart or Advanced. You could leave it siiting there but it would look kinda half A**. Let me know if you need anything else

ya....Use the harness its alot easier. Spring for the dash kit too. Might cost you all of 20.00 for both at walmart.

well, ive been looking around and circuit city and best buy want 18 each for the harness and mounting kit. I dont wanna spend 40 bux on this. and its a little less on crutchfield, but then theres shipping, so its like 36 bucks. isnt there anywhere else I can get it cheaper? or maybe both of them together? thanks again.

ok, i know everyone is always into doing it right, but you do NOT need a wiring harness adaptor. more then likley your stock harness with GM connector in the camaro is long gone anyway. secondly, your iawa deck does have a harness allready right? if so all you need to do is match the wires on the harness, to the camaro wires. many of them will be the same. red for hot, black for ground. yellow for acc. the harness on the deck should be labled (unless the installer who put it in your civic pulled them off) as far as speaker outputs go. . i am sure you could find a diagram on the forum somwhere that goes over the camaro wiring. and then just hook up the wires coming out of the back of the deck to the wires in the dash. i would recomend soldering if you want a real good quality connection. but if it is just a junky deck with stock speakers (like what i am running right now) you can get away with radio shack crimp connectors.

the dash kid however, you are going to need.

It takes money to do things right. If you can’t spend $35.00, don’t do it, work longer…

or you could go to AutoZone or Walmart and get everything you need for under $15....

I wouldn't cut the stock wiring harness when the adapter is like $4.... then the mounting kit is $8-$10

OK. My brother went to college today and there was a walmart there. I got the dash kit and the wiring harness. I spent a good 10 minutes wiring it up and getting it on. And first off, I think i need an antenna adapter (although i dont listen to the radio often anyways...especially now that I can play CD's ). But more of a problem, I turned on the ignition, nothing happened for like 10-15 seconds, and then it turned on. It was on for a minute and then shut off. It made the bleep sound that its supposed to make when you turn off the ignition. My "wiring job" was just twisting each seperate connection together, and then covering each one with electrical tape. Could this be the problem? THanks a lot. Also, could it just be one specific connection? Thanks agin.

"twisting each seperate connection together, and then covering each one with electrical tape"

Solder/heat-shrink or crimp.

This post was in response to Syn's post. I don't get what I would or would not notice in this particular case.

I guess they could have changed the prices, but I think there's only one antenna adapter.

This is the wiring harness AND the antenna adapter
