You are right. When PPI and Orion got taken over by a big company like DEI, they went down hill quickly. MB Quart did not lose much of their own quality when bought out by Fosgate (a company that has managed to bring their own product from cutting egde to a woofer line with a 37% failure rate in a matter of a few years). I have not seen the new Quart lineup, but I would be confident that if they kept up their quality while being owned by Fosgate, they are probably still ok.

Rockford pissed millions into Quart before they realized that no matter what they do, they aren't going to make it profitable. From what I understand, the german government has certain rules about laying off employees that are making it virtually impossible for anybody to be able to make Quart profitable.
My guess is that Maxxsonics wanted quart just for the name. I am guessing that pretty soon the german facilities will be shut down completely and Maxx will slap the Quart name onto cheap chinese made garbage so that they can capitalize on the brand recognition of a once great name, just like they did with Crunch and Autotek.
Most of the once great names in car audio are being picked off one by one.

Reminds me of a Robin Williams stand-up I heard where he was talking about Bill Gates being in court for antitrust issues:
"...Mr. Gates, did you know that you were trying to create a monopoly?".
"Monopoly's just a game, Senator, I'm trying to control the f**king world!".

I have a pair of older MB Quart 6.5" speakers that say "Made in Germany" on them. They sound AMAZING!
I have another pair that says "MADE IN CHINA" on them... and all I have to say is
They sound like ***.
