help: mono amp running 2 subs
ok im posting for a friend and im not exactly sure if this will work or not and do not want to give the wrong info.... he has a mono amp, and 2 12'' subs. i know he will have to run in parallel, and that (i think) they will be running at 2 ohms
amp: FP-402 (fusion)
CEA 2006 Compliant Amplifier Ratings
12.6 Volt Power Output Specifications
50 WRMS per Channel @ 4 Ohms and ¡Ü 1% THD+N
96 WRMS per Channel @ 2 Ohms and ¡Ü 1% THD+N
160 WRMS Bridged Channels @ 4 Ohms and ¡Ü 1% THD+N
66 WRMS per Channel @ 4 Ohms and ¡Ü 1% THD+N
100 WRMS per Channel @ 2 Ohms and ¡Ü 1% THD+N
200 WRMS Bridged Channels @ 4 Ohms and ¡Ü 1% THD+N
sub:FEW-12DVC (fusion)
Magnet Structure: 80 Oz
Power Handling (MAX): 400 Watts
Voice Coil: 2" Kapton SVC
Impedance: 4 Ohms per coil
Free Space Response (Fs): 27 Hz
Efficiency (1W/1M): 91dB
Frequency Response: 23Hz-3kHz
i guess my question is would the subs run at 100 rms per channel? and would that be underpowering the subs? or should it work ok?

Well according to those specs, the sub is not mono, mono of course, means 1 channel, and you cannot bridge a mono amp, however the specs do show bridged output, so either it is a 2/multi channel amp or the specs are incorrect

also, in the sub name, the last 3 leeters, stand for Dual-Voice-Coil, however in the sub specs, it says single voice coil, another mismatch, it would also help to include rms/continuous power instead of peak power handling.

The subs are 4 ohms (per) coil, so dual voice coils. The model number denotes a 2-channel amp. The subs in parallel would make the amp see a 2 ohm load in bridged mode, however the amp is only rated at a 4 ohm load bridged. So if you don't want the amp to overheat, you will have to either run the subs in series for a 8 ohm load, or run a sub off of each channel at 4 ohms. That will net 50 watts per sub safely at 12 volts.
Basically that amp is a bad choice for those subs. You can run them, but they won't sound their best.

you can get 4 ohms out of two dual 4 subs the amp is rated at 200 rms bridged at 4 ohms and that is 100 rms for each sub

My problem with these replies are that we are assuming the info. provided is accurate although nothing really makes sense in the original post

sorry the original post was for a friend then he got confused on what he wanted....
so first hes wondering if he could run 2 subs off a mono. and basically i know it would be way underpowered... so no.
the stats are for something he wants...it is a 2 channel fusion amp and 2 subs. he got me confused thinking it was all one question...
