4 ohm sub measuring 2.5 to 3.2 ohms
I measured the resistance across the terminals on my Pioneer TS-W300R subs (two of them measured seperately, with SAME results) rated at 4 ohms, readings bounced between 2.5 to 3.2 ohms. On average, I'd say 2.9.
I plan on running them in parrallel on a 2 ohm Apline mono amp. Is this stil okay to do
?
I've been running them off their own channels, two bridged channels of a 4-channel amp. The amp was rated for 4 ohms bridged. That amp recently died.

The 4 ohm rating is a nominal impedance whereas the 3.2 ohm reading you are getting is the DC resistance. Although the DCR is typically lower than the nominal impedance, IMO 2.5 is a little low. I am sure you can still run them parallel to that alpine mono amp without issues, just monitor it for a while.

what surprises me is how much the DCR differs on the two subs. Pioneer is usually much more consistant than that. That much of a difference in DCR is likely to have a pretty noticable effect on the Qts and other T/S parameters.

Are these new subs or have you been using them for some time? If the speaker aren't new I wander if the coils didn't get over heated. What meter are you using? And they shouldn't be bouncing around a lot, may be at first but it should settle right down.

A $20 radio shack meter. It is a digital display. The meter bounces around unreadably at first, and then steadily bounces between 2.5 and 3.2.
I have been using one sub for about 8 months, and the other, for about 4 months. Both show the same bouncing.
If this will not kill my Alpine, then it's all good.
BTW, I cut the pieces for the bottom of the box last night. Tonight I'm going to assemble the bottom, and work on the top of the box. I'm eager to test the differences between the good 'ol plate, and the praised enclosure
